Karel ‘Twisten’ Ašenbrener reportedly passed away at the age of 19 last night—heartbreaking news for the VALORANT and Esports community.
Born on December 4, 2003, Karel “Twisten” Ašenbrener was a Czech player who was playing for Team Vitality. The young pro player previously played for eSuba, Entropiq, and BIG.
On June 7, 2023, Team Vitality disclosed the saddening news of Twisten’s death which occurred last night. However, the French organization did mention the cause of death.
“We are heartbroken to share with you that our VALORANT player Karel “Twisten” Ašenbrener passed away last night. We are deeply saddened by this devastating loss, and our first thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in this difficult time.” – Team Vitality.

Twisten Passes away at Age 19
Twisten was a devoted VALORANT player who played under multiple known organizations. Team Vitality failed to qualify for the VCT Masters Tokyo. However, Twisten was glad to be a part of the team and was ready to do everything possible to qualify for the VALORANT Champions 2023 through the LCQ. However, his VALORANT Champions’ run ended with an unfortunate event.
Although no cause of death was revealed, it was reported that Twisted had been battling with depression for over two years. On February 26, 2023, the pro player even mentioned self-harming himself to the point that he had to spend a few days in the Mental Health Hospital.
Twisten’s last tweet on June 6, 2023, was “Good Night.”
