VALORANT’s recent file overview shows a hint of controller support with an upcoming update.

VALORANT is a 5v5 strategic shooter developed by Riot Games. Mostly known for League of Legends, Riot’s take on the FPS genre has been a widely successful attempt. Since its launch, VALORANT has become one of the most popular PC games worldwide.

Like Counter Strike, VALORANT is a competitive centred game. Currently only available on PC, VALORANT has no controller support in normal lobbies. Although a few players could find a workaround to the no-controller policy, there has been no official support. However, in a recent file overview, miners were able to find a hint of controller support, which might be part of an upcoming update.

Controller Support on VALORANT Might Be Available Soon

VALORANT’s gameplay model prioritizes mouse and keyboard due to its slow pace and precise aiming mechanics. Moreover, most weapons in the game feature erratic recoil patterns designed for the mouse only. But in a recent Twitter post, VALORANT Leaks & News shared a file containing keywords linking official controller support for the game.

However, a large chunk of FPS enthusiasts love to play with controllers. In VALORANT, a streamer named Dasnerth reached the highest rank in Radiant using a controller workaround. However, he only used Judge as his primary weapon due to its simple aiming and firing mechanics.

With a full-fledged mobile port on the way, if VALORANT adds official controller support, it might attract many new players. Console controller players are always eager to find new live service games to try out, and VALORANT, being a free game, might become a massive go-to destination.

Moreover, VALORANT’s beautiful cosmetics might be an additional point for the game’s popularity if it gets controller support. However, without aim assist, controller players might need to put in many hours into the game before becoming good or rising through the ranks. Take this with a grain of salt, as these are just speculation from file leaks.
