In a recent mass-scale operation, Turkish police arrested 40 people suspected of running a scam syndicate on Twitch.

Sometimes on Twitch, you may see streamers getting big promotions. Sometimes these donations can be outrageous amounts like $500-10,000 even. Twitch viewers do not donate to their favorite streamers directly. Instead, they buy bits and donate the bits to the streamers.

Twitch also takes a percentage from these donations and the streamers keep a part of it. Previously there have been talks about these huge donations being part of money-laundering schemes.

But this time, Turkish police caught 40 people suspected of running an elaborate scam on Twitch. DailySabah recently posted on this scam news.

This operation was conducted across 11 provinces and there were more than 40 suspects. The suspects were accused of sending Bits to streamers from stolen credit cards.

“Demirören News Agency (DHA) reported that some suspects had collaborated with streamers who were aware that the bit payments were made using stolen credit cards and took their share”

Streamers would receive Bits from these credit card stealing gangs and then pay them using real money after keeping a certain amount for themselves. The DailySabah previously reported this scam and urged Twitch to take action.

A streamer by the name “Jahrein” brought attention to this whole scam. According to a DHA (Demirören News Agency) report, as reported by DailySabah, some of the suspects were minors.
