Riot Games recently released a new skin set called “RGX 11Z PRO” and upon further inspection players have discovered that this new skin bundle is literally “pay to lose”.

As Valorant is a free-to-play tactical shooter game, Riot Games makes all their revenue from the game through in-game microtransactions. Basically, players can buy weapon skins using real-world money to customize their play sessions.

While developing unique cosmetic items for the game, Riot took serious precautions to avoid any “pay to win” element. Turns out, the opposite has come to fruition as the newly released “RGX 11Z PRO” skin bundle causes severe FPS drops while playing the game.

RGX 11Z PRO Skin FPS Drop Issue

If you equip any skins from the new RGX 11Z PRO Skin line, FPS literally hits the ground.

Pro players like ShahZaM from Sentinels stated that the new Vandal skin from that bundle causes him to get less than 100 FPS. Keep in mind pro players usually have high-end PCs. Meaning average PCs will be affected more by this weird bug.

After it was revealed that the skins were in fact causing all the FPS drops, players were immediately calling it the “pay to lose” skins. Following reports from multiple players within the Valorant community, the devs at Riot Games later confirmed that this is an actual issue and they are looking into it.

According to a Riot dev, they have tested this for performance before they shipped the final build, but unfortunately, they missed it. Right now, they are in the process of fixing it and it should be live soon in the form of a patch.
