Solving the Gift Shop Safe Puzzle in Alan Wake 2
The gift shop safe puzzle is a puzzle that can be solved after figuring out how the names you find in the note above the safe can be related to the noticeboard behind you.
Start by looking at the note at the top of the safe. You’ll see that someone named Jaakko indicates that the password hits were ‘Lookout’, ‘Fixer’, and ‘Supplier’ and he’s furious that the password has been changed since. Then look at the bottom of the note to see that someone named IImo says that now the combination to the safe is ‘Tracker’, ‘Lookout’, and ‘Cleaner’.
Well, this can still seem pretty confusing as these words don’t mean anything on their own. But notice that there is a staff board on the opposite side of the room where the pictures of every staff member are hanged and their roles are written below them.
Although there aren’t any staff with the titles ‘Tracker’, ‘Lookout’, or ‘Cleaner’ written below them, you have to do a slight interpretation regarding their roles in the workplace. So the three titles you found on the note can be interpreted as such:
- Tracker – Related to Lost and Found – Susan
- Lookout – Related to Security – Joonas
- Cleaner – Related to Janitor – Victor
Alright great, now you have the interpretation of the three titles in terms of employee names. However, the keys to the safe require you to put in numbers, not names. So here’s what you need to do next in order to proceed.
Now this part is pretty weird, even for an Alan Wake Puzzle. Notice that every picture on the staff board has a number of coffee beans stuck to it. Specifically, Susan has 1, Joonas has 4 and Victor has 6 coffee beans. And there you have it, 146 is the combination to the safe.
