After immense backlash, Riot is slightly updating the ultimate Soul Fighter Samira skin.

Champion skins are the most popular cosmetics in League of Legends. And these skins are divided into various tiers based on their features. Ultimate tier is the most sought-after tier in the game.

Ultimate skins offer the most out of all skins. They include completely overhauled in-game models, high-quality VFX and SFX, unique animations, new recall, and, most importantly, unique skin-specific gimmicks.

Pulsefire Ezreal was the first ultimate skin in League of Legends. And it included all the features mentioned earlier. As for its skin-specific gimmick, the model and VFX of the skin would change after reaching a certain level. Afterward, Riot released a few other ultimate skins over the years. Moreover, the last ultimate skin we received in the game was K/DA Seraphine in 2020.

But now, 3 years later, Riot has finally announced a new ultimate skin for League of Legends. And that skin is Soul Fighter Samira.

When they announced the skin, the players were rightfully very excited. However, almost everyone was disappointed at the skin after Riot fully showcased it, and players got to try it out on PBE. The main reason for that was it was basically a legendary skin but with an ultimate skin price. At the same time, legendary skins like Battle Queen Katarina offer more value to players than the Samira skin.

The player base overall was not happy with this skin and its pricing. So Riot recently revealed some changes to the skins.

Ultimate Soul Fighter Samira Changes

  • All SF Samira-based damage now triggers the unique damage numbers. Items and special buffs still use the base damage numbers.
  • Adjusted the threshold for her taunt to be: 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, & 18.
  • Added a bit more flare to the Recall for a little more spice, as well as her Respawn.
  • Added a bit more flare to her auto-attacks to give a more powerful feel.
  • Added a special burst of flames and sparks when landing the killing blow on a minion.

In short, they are updating the VFX of this skin. But this is not what the player base wanted.

The problem with Soul Fighter Samira is that it reuses many animations from base Samira. Additionally, it doesn’t even include any new proper gimmicks like other ultimate skins. The only recognizable thing Soul Fighter Samira has is the combo meter. But that meter could have been a feature of a legendary skin.

Currently, the community unanimously agrees that this skin’s price should be lowered, similar to Gun Goddess Miss Fortune. At the time, Riot thought Gun Goddess Miss Fortune didn’t uphold a similar quality as the prior ultimate skins. Due to it, Riot reduced its price to 2775 RP. And this skin offers more than the current Soul Fighter Samira. Yet Soul Fighter Samira has a 3250 RP price point. So if Riot were to lower the price, the player base would greatly appreciate this skin.
