Swain will receive some much-needed changes later in the year.
It’s been quite a while since Swain has received some changes. The last meaningful change he received was back in Patch 13.9. But it seems that is about to change as Riot has announced some massive changes coming to Swain.
Swain has been in a peculiar spot since his rework back in 2018. Due to his adequate AP ratio, the champion didn’t fill the role of an AP burst mage nor could he compete with most of the league’s premier battlemages. Thus, leading to him becoming more of a support rather than a Solo Laner.
This is why Riot has announced they would make some changes to make more of a Solo-Laner, rather than a support. In a recent video titled “An Update on Some Projects” Riot Phreak has outlined some of the changes coming to League of Legends, including the Swain changes later in the year.

Upcoming Swain Changes
While Riot did not fully reveal the new Swain changes however they did give us an insight into what they are working on. A lot of the changes are revamping his playstyle while giving him some reliability changes. Here are the changes revealed,
- Q Usability – As of now Swain’s Q ability is very effective against Melee champions but against Ranged champions, it’s pretty hit or miss. Riot is looking to bridge that game and make it more reliable in all matchups.
- E Consistency – Swains E according to Riot Phreak is getting its recast speed increased. The change should help with champions with high mobility.
- E/R Power Share – Currently most Swain players max his W ability second. Riot is looking to make E second max much more viable. Thus they are shifting some power from his W ability.
- R Adjustments: Riot has not revealed the exact R changes yet. But they stated that they are testing multiple casts of his Demonflare during his ult.
These are all the changes Riot has announced. We will update it as soon as more information is available.
Release Date
The exact release date of the Swain changes has not been revealed but according to Riot, it will be coming sometime after Patch 13.19.
