New details about the 2v2v2v2 have been revealed.
Riot has been slacking when it comes to adding new game modes to League of Legends. For the last couple of years, Riot has not released a new game mode; they have been reusing all the older game modes. The last truly unique game mode released to the game was Nexus Blitz, which was released in 2018.
But earlier this year, Riot announced that they were working on a brand new game mode dubbed the 2v2v2v2 mode. The game mode is supposed to be a unique spin on the deathmatch-type mode. Instead of a traditional free-for-all deathmatch, in this game mode, four teams of two are pitted against each other in a series of deathmatch-like rounds. In addition, Players are also able to buy items in between rounds.
Other than that, not many details about the game had not been revealed. But recently, Riot shared some information on the game mode. They also shared some new concept art and even some map details.
In this article, we will go through all the details about the game mode Riot has shared so far.

2v2v2v2 Gamemode: New Information
Riot shared some new details about the game mode in a recent Dev Update uploaded to the League of Legends official Youtube channel.
Firstly, the 2v2v2v2 Gamemode will have an augmented system very similar to Team Fight Tactics or TFT. In each round, players are able to pick and choose an augment, and each augment affects the champion in various ways. A player can choose to take augments that buff champions’ base abilities or choose something else entirely; the possibility is endless.
Other than that, we also got some early concept art and maps for the new game modes.

Here is a map that looks very similar to the base Summoner Rift map, with bushes, structures, and rivers.
This map looks to be a version of the base map that has been charred by the Infernal Drake.
Expected Release Date
The exact release date for the 2v2v2v2 Gamemode has not yet been revealed, but Riot has said they plan to release it with the big summer event. So, we might have to wait an additional month or two.
