Riot Games CEO has revealed new information about Arcane, including a possible release date.
In 2019 at the League of Legends 10th anniversary, Riot announced many new upcoming projects. One of these projects was an animated show based on the League of Legends universe. And that show was Arcane.
Arcane was released in November of 2021. Studio Fortiche made it under the supervision of Riot Games. Moreover, it was aired on Netflix.
The story of Arcane focuses on the conflict between the city of Piltover and Zaun. Additionally, we can also see detailed lore of existing League champions like Vi, Jinx, Ekko, Singed, Viktor, Jayce, Caitlyn, and Heimerdinger.
Arcane was a surprise hit for both existing fans of League of Legends and newcomers. Since the story did not require fans to know the already established story, everyone was able to enjoy Arcane to the fullest. Because of it, Arcane became one of the best shows that Netflix has ever aired. Also, in rating websites, this show has a 100% critics score with a 96% audience score. Furthermore, Arcane also won The Game Award for Best Adaptation in 2022.
As it was a huge success, after the end of season 1, Riot immediately announced that season 2 of Arcane was in production and it won’t be coming out in 2022. So fans expected that the second season might be coming out in 2023. But Riot Games recently confirmed that season 2 of Arcane will be delayed to 2024.

Arcane Release Date Delayed
Recently Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent was interviewed on Bilibili (A Chinese video-sharing platform). And during the audience Q&A, the first question from the audience was, “Where is Arcane part 2?”.
From that, Riot Games CEO replied that he watched episode 3 of Arcane season 2 before his flight to China. He added that season 2 is not ready yet and mentioned two reasons for that. The first reason is that fans want quality, so they cannot rush production. The second main reason is that Arcane was a surprise success. Even Riot could not anticipate that fans would love it so much. If they knew, they would have started production much earlier. But since they did not know, they “waited a bit,” and production will take a little longer. So season 2 is not coming out in 2023.
