Treasure Hunter is being nerfed significantly on Patch 13.4.

Riot has just shared their plans for Patch 13.4, and they mentioned that they would be nerfing the popular rune Treasure Hunter.

Treasure Hunter is currently one of the most picked runes in League of Legends. It is a very strong early-game rune from the Domination tree. The rune gives the user free gold for unique takedowns. Each unique takedown gives the user a Bounty Hunter stack, and the user receives gold for each stack. The first unique takedown gives 70 gold, while the second 90 gold, the third 110 gold, the fourth 130 gold, and the fifth 150 gold, totaling 550 gold.

Getting 550 free gold might not seem like much at first, but it all adds up when you consider that the Jungle role exists. Junglers can freely roam around the map and get takedowns early. Thus leading them to get the Treasure Hunter gold early. They can then use the gold to snowball themselves and their laners, ultimately making the game unplayable for the enemy team.

So to mitigate this kind of early-game Jungle snowballing, Riot on Patch 13.4 is nerfing Treasure Hunter.

Treasure Hunter Nerfs

  • Base Gold: 70 gold >>> 50 gold.
  • Total Gold: 550 gold >>> 450 gold.

Treasure Hunter Nerfs seems like a step in the right direction. The rune has been way too strong and required a nerf. Hopefully, the nerf is enough and will help mitigate early-game snowballing.

Release Date

The aforementioned changes will be included in Patch 13.4, which will be released on Thursday, Feb 23, 2023.
