VALORANT will get three Agents in 2023. Riot Games has announced the roles for the first two, in addition to a mysterious Agent.
VALORANT is a 5v5 tactical shooter that is inspired by CS:GO and Overwatch. The game brought shooting mechanisms and weapon categories from CS:GO and the hero-shooter aspect of Overwatch. Due to the game’s flawless implementation of hero shooter and tactical gameplay, VALORANT witnessed a quick success among the FPS enthusiasts.
Yet, VALORANT stands apart from other first-person shooters in more ways than just the gameplay. Riot Games spends considerable time developing elaborate backstories for each and every aspect of the game. This makes the game more personal and immersive, making the connection between player and game stronger.
In the recent “State of the Agents” video by Riot Games, the character producer for VALORANT, John Goscicki, talked about various topics, such as the future plan and balance of the game. Moreover, the developer shed light on the upcoming Agents of VALORANT.

VALORANT’s Agent Road Map in 2023
Upon VALORANT’s official launch on June 2, 2020, Riot Games released only 11 Agents. Currently, the game has 20 playable Agents, with Harbor being the latest one added in the 5.08 patch.
Riot Games doesn’t always reveal the upcoming characters beforehand. As a result, finding out what lies ahead is always exciting for the players. However, the developers give players hints to make the waiting more thrilling.
In a similar manner, John Goscicki explained Riot Games’ strategy for future Agents in the “State of the Agents” video. The developer claims that in 2023, VALORANT will add three additional Agents. Among them, the first Agent will be an Initiator and will be released soon.
John also revealed the role of the second Agent in line, and it will be a Sentinel. For the third Agent however, Riot Games didn’t reveal any information and wanted it to stay a surprise until the right time arrived.
As tons of new Agents are being added to the VALORANT roster, there might be a time when the available roles: Duelist, Controller, Initiator, and Sentinel won’t be enough to fit all the characters. So, many believe that Riot Games might add a new role and make room for new characters in the game.
So, the VALORANT community may witness a new role and a mysterious Agent in late 2023. However, this is just speculation at this point. So take it with a grain of salt.
