After a lot of rumors, Riot Games denies the claims that they are making a Deadlock competitor.
Valve is one of the most prominent video game developers and publishers. Since the release of Half-life in 1998, they have been an influential figure in the PC-gaming sphere. Some of the important games they have released thus far are Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Portal, DotA 2, etc. Moreover, they also created the biggest PC storefront, Steam.
One of the other big video companies is Riot Games. Till now they have made League of Legends, Valorant, Legends of Runeterra, etc. However, most of their games are mostly inspired by an already existing video game. For example, League of Legends is inspired by the Defence of the Ancient mod of Warcraft III. Similarly, Valorant was inspired by Counter-Strike, and LoR was inspired by Hearthstone.
Not too long ago, Valve started the early testing for Deadlock. And overall players are enjoying this playtest. However, recently, rumors started to arise that Riot is making its own Deadlock competitor. And now, a senior director at Riot Games debunked all of these rumors.

Riot Games Denies The Rumours Of Making A Deadlock Competitor
This rumor started with a 4chan post, where a user made a fake PC Gamer article with the title “Tencent Grants Riot Games a $200 Million Budget for New Hero Shooter to Compete with Deadlock”.

Afterward, a Twitter user uploaded this on Twitter/X, which got a lot of attention.
This post got so popular that even the Senior Director of Corporate Communications of Riot Games, Joe Hixson, replied to the Twitter post.
According to Joe, the article firstly doesn’t exist which we established earlier. Then Tencent doesn’t fund Riot Games like that. And lastly, Riot Games have a lot of projects in their R&D however, none of them come close to Deadlock.
