Riot has clarified their stance on ending the Zeri & Yuumi Meta in Patch 13.12

Zeri and Yuumi have been two of the most oppressive champions in pro play of League of Legends. This started happening since the release of Zeri, as she instantly became a pro play favorite. In 2022, many casters and viewers termed Zeri taking over a teamfight “A Zeri Moment.”

This has not improved over time, as Zeri & Yuumi keep popping up in pro play all the time. Both champions were nerfed considerably to be taken out, but then some buff or rework brought them back. Since the Yuumi rework, the champion has returned as a priority again.

The Zeri changes also did the same thing. However, it was still not that strong until Patch 13.10. That was the last straw, as a new build completely made Zeri overpowered. This prompted Riot to make some considerable changes in Patch 13.12.

Since then, Riot Phroxzon has commented on the matter and essentially said they want to end this bot lane meta of Zeri & Yuumi. Here is what we know so far.

Riot Ending Zeri & Yuumi Meta in Patch 13.12

Zeri and Yuumi are getting considerable nerf for people not aware of the situation. Zeri is losing her Shield Passive while her Q no longer procs Trinity Force. Meanwhile, Yuumi is getting some big early-game nerfs, and some indirect changes, with Enchanter items getting some nerfs as well.

Thus, this is what Riot Phroxzon had to say about the topic.

Essentially, Riot’s stance is they are not happy with these champions being in pro play constantly. Also, they want to move away from Enchanters. Patch 13.10 and 13.11 basically made both of them too strong, and Riot is nerfing those aspects of the game.

Then, Riot Phroxzon goes on to say that they are making these changes and are willing to make drastic changes if necessary. Riot is definitely listening, and we hope they can resolve this issue.
