Riot Games finally confirms that Tahm Kench is getting his rework in early 2021, once the preseason is more settled down after all the new changes.

Tahm Kench, everyone’s favorite catfish has been out of the League of Legends meta for quite some time now. Because of his kit being “overpowered” for the pro games, Tahm Kench was undergone with multiple nerfs in season 9.

With all those back to back changes, Tahm Kench’s win rate and pick rate in the soloq dropped significantly. Currently, in patch 10.24, he only has a 45.61% win rate as support while having just a 0.3% pick rate which is one of the lowest in the game. And according to many League of Legends players, Tahm Kench is pretty much a “dead champ” right now. Even though he is in such a bad spot, Riot didn’t give him any kind of buffs in season 10 besides fixing some bugs.

However, a couple of months earlier, Riot announced a small rework for Tahm Kench which was meant to come out after the Worlds patch. But with no update from Riot Games, many players started to call out Riot regarding this subject.

“So the TK rework is coming once preseason is (more) settled and we have time to finish up the work and allocate the resources,” Riot Phlox replied confirming Tahm Kench’s rework. “Really would prefer to have it out before pro starts again, but I sadly can’t just slap a timeline here.”

Potential Changes in Tahm Kench Rework

According to Riot Captain Gameplay, they are planning to move Tahm Kench’s Devour (his W) to his Ultimate slot. With his Devour being moved to his ultimate it will become “more powerful as a spell cast” and “less dependent on allies”.

On the other hand, his new W ability will now become a “new engage tool“. Furthermore, Riot is also planning to adjust his sustained combat pattern and give him some “cool tricks”.

“We are trying out a self heal on Tongue Lash, as we’ve identified that his combat pattern tends to be very one-and-done due to the all or nothing nature of Thick Skin’s defenses, and we are trying to encourage offensive uses of Devour by allowing Tongue Lash to once again stack An Acquired Taste – as well as letting you use it to Devour enemies at range who are fully stacked,” Riot Captain Gameplay shared some additional information about his rework.

As per Riot Phlox’s reply, we can assume that Tahm Kench rework is going live in early 2021. Moreover, Riot Phlox also mentioned that Tahm Kench might get some additional “thicc” changes in his rework as well.
