Riot is looking to change AP Ivern in the near future.

For the past few months, Ivern has been a hot topic of discussion in the League of Legends community. Once a champion who was widely considered one of the worst champions is now one of the best champions in the game, and it’s all thanks to his recent Mini-Rework.

Ivern received his Mini-Rework in Patch 13.11. With it came a bunch of buffs and quality-of-life changes. It also made him pretty strong, a little too strong. As a result, he got nerfed multiple times. After the nerfs, he remains strong still but not overpowered as he used to be.

That said, recently, a new build has popped up that makes Ivern much stronger than his supportive build. The build involves him buying Night Harvester and transitioning to a full AP. The build not only has tons of damage but still retains Iverns absurd shielding.

The build has been terrorizing Solo-Queue for the last couple of patches, and it seems Riot has taken notice. So, in the future, Riot is looking to AP Ivern.

Future Ivern Changes

Having champion build variety is a big part of League of Legends. Being able to play champion in several ways is enjoyable and increases the game’s replayability. Riot understands it well and has been attempting to diversify champion builds for a long time.

But not all alternate build paths are good for the game. For example, the recent AP Kaisa build. Being able to dish out massive pok damage from afar while still having dps is unhealthy for the game.

Another example is AP Ivern, the talking point of this article. AP Ivern is really strong right now, it has over 50% win rate, but AP Iverns win rate is 3-4 % higher, which is pretty absurd. So, Riot is looking to change Ivern and even has announced some of the changes.

Recently, Riot GalaxySmash announced they want to bring drastic changes to Ivern. According to him, Riot plans to shift some of AP Iverns power in future patches. He also said, “Our long term stance is that Ivern should not be building AP.”

So, it appears Riot does not feel that AP Ivern is healthy for the game and looking to change Iverns build path in the future.

As for when we are getting the Ivern changes, it is likely coming in Patch 13.15, which releases on Wednesday, Aug 2nd, 2023.
