As the Blue Essence recently got a nerf in League of Legends, Riot has recently addressed changes they are going to do to combat it.
Last year was one of the biggest most biggest League of Legends seasons as of yet in terms of content. This season won’t be any different. For this season Riot has released many new contents. Some of the new contents include the new Noxus Themed Summoner’s Rift, the new epic monster Atakhan, the new respawning turrets, new boots, feats of strength feature, etc.
Besides these, Riot has changed many pre-existing systems in this new system. While most of these contents are changes to the base game, there are also some reward system changes as well. And players are not happy with these changes whatsoever.
For context, this season, Riot Games completely reworked the current reward system, in favor of the new Battle Pass system. Firstly, they have removed most of the free Hextech chests, thus chances of getting free skins are much lower now.
Not only that, but before, earning all of the champions for free was a very hard thing, as the prices of the champions were very high, but the rate that players got Blue Essence for free was very low. However, unintentionally, it is even harder now. One of the main reasons for that is, that the champion capsules that players could get from leveling up were moved to the Battle Pass. Furthermore, account leveling also got slower this season as well.
As players got enraged by these changes, Riot immediately issued a statement and discussed the changes coming to fix the current issues regarding Blue Essence and account XP.

League of Legends: Blue Essence & Account XP Changes
To recap what happened, with the recent changes, the amount of Blue Essence an average player was earning went down to -20%. These players are the ones who don’t grind that actively but still play the game occasionally. But these new changes also hurt the most dedicated players as well. For them, their Blue Essence earning went down to -71%. It is a huge downgrade compared to everything. Riot also removed the Blue Essence and Account XP from the Daily Win of the Day mission. That also didn’t help the matter whatsoever.
Due to this blunder, Riot recently released a dev log explaining this blunder and how they are fixing this mistake. Firstly, they are increasing the total BE from milestones from 4750 to 9000 and the epilogue rewards from 50 to 750 BE.
However, many players have already progressed past the BE milestones. As Riot wasn’t able to adjust these in time, they are releasing a simple one-time mission that will grant 4250 Blue Essence for those who complete it.
As for account XP changes, from now on, players will earn 40% more XP than before. This should help players unlock ranked way faster than before.
Changes Release Date
The changes to the epilogue rewards will go live on Patch 25.S1.2, scheduled for January 23, 2025. And the one time mission will be going live on Patch 25.S1.3, scheduled for February 5, 2025. Furthermore, rest of the changes will be coming out before the release of the Act 2 battle pass.
