Ubisoft has released the much-anticipated patch notes for Rainbow Six Siege’s Y9S1 Operation Deadly Omen, and there’s some major changes coming in the first season.
Rainbow Six Siege’s Y9S1 Operation Deadly Omen is bringing Deimos as a playable attacker. Deimos will bring his unique DeathMark gadget to track roaming defenders, and he also brings a slick new revolver as a secondary weapon.
Apart from that, Ubisoft will be making some major changes that are expected to change the meta significantly. These changes include slowing down ADS speed across the board, removing the 1.5x magnifying scope, changes to the weapon grips, and more.

R6S Y9S1 Operation Deadly Omen Full Patch Notes
Shield Rework
Shield operators are getting a major revamp in Y9S1. Montagne, Blitz, and Fuze will be the recipients of this rework that consists of removing the ability to hip fire without ADSing. Instead, shield operators will now be able to sprint with the shield equipped. Shield ops can also break through full-health soft barricades, and also has been given the ability to free look.
A new counter has been added that is suppressive fire, where shield operators will be slowed down when defenders continuously shoot the front of their shield.
Attachment and ADS
The time to transition from hip fire to aiming down sights has been increased across all weapons when idling or walking and has also been increased proportionately when going from sprint to aiming down sights
GRIPS
- Horizontal Grip is a new grip that increases Operator movement speed.
- Vertical Grip has been updated to reduce recoil control to +20% (down from 25).
- Angled Grip has been changed to have a bonus to +20% reload speed Increase.
UNDER BARRELS
Under Barrel laser has been changed to have a bonus of +10% Aim Down Sight Speed.
SIGHTS
The following updates have been made to sights:
- 1.5x to Magnified scope: No bonus. 2.5x magnification.
- 2.0x to Telescopic scope: No bonus. 3.5x magnification.
- 3.0x to Telescopic scope: No bonus. 3.5x magnification.
Ranked restrictions
Ranked mode is now split into separate restrictions for returning and new players.
- Returning players: Win 5 matches in Quick Match or Standard to regain access.
- New players: Reach Clearance Level 50 and own 10 Attack and 10 Defense Operators.
These restrictions do not affect existing Ranked players.
New Management Menu: The Locker
The Locker is a new management system menu that keeps cosmetic items organized and makes browsing and exploring the player’s cosmetic collection more convenient by adding a favorites section.
You can find your favorite items at the top of your locker and appearance lists for quick access. Browse the Latest section for your recently acquired items from the Shop, Pack, or Battle pass. The Pack Manager can now also be accessed via the Locker.
BALANCING
AZAMI
The Kiba Barrier has health and is vulnerable to bullets. The caliber of the weapon will affect the damage dealt to the barriers.
LMG WEAPON CLASS UPDATE
The LMG weapon class will be receiving an overall reduction to their recoil. With the combination of their magazine size and this adjustment they will also have a 10% movement penalty.LEARN MORE
Player Comfort
RAPPEL IMPROVEMENTS
We have made changes to rappel to improve the time it takes to enter and exit this ability, making play more natural and responsive for Attackers. We’ve also added some new animations.
TRAJECTORY PREVISUALIZATION
Trajectory Previsualization gives players the option to see a visual representation of where their throwable device will end up, letting players set up devices more accurately, as well as providing a ghost for devices that stick to surfaces to show where it will end up. Trajectory Previsualization is available for all game modes. and can be toggled on or off in the settings.
Training and Onboarding
Enhanced Versus AI Experience:
This season brings significant improvements to the Versus AI playlist, offering players greater diversity and challenge:
- Expanded Map Pool: Five new maps – Chalet, Oregon, Consulate, Bank, and Kafe Dostoyevsky – have been added to the playlist.
- Improved AI Behavior: The AI has received upgrades to improve its behavior and provide a more realistic challenge.
- New Operator Availability: Melusi and Alibi have joined the roster of Operators available for the AI.
- Attacker Operator Selection: Players can now choose from Lion, Jackal, Iana, Buck, Finka, and Ash when attacking against the AI.
Expanded Map Training Playlist:
The Map Training playlist also receives a boost with the addition of four new maps: Skyscraper, Coastline, Border, and Nighthaven. This update provides players with additional maps to explore and practice before diving into competitive play.
Operator Balancing
FINKA
- Finka’s Adrenaline Boost doesn’t increase Reload Speed.
- Cleans shields’ Suppressive Fire. Also reduces its effect by 50% if applied while affected by the Adrenal Surge.

- Revolvers, Sniper Rifles, and Slug Shotguns have been added.
Weapon Attributes
The Following updates and changes have been made to Weapon Attributes:
- Weapon Attributes have been updated to slow down general Aim Down Sight.
- Aim Down Sights transition accuracy has been simplified for all weapons to follow 1 of 3 curves during the time between hip fire and aiming down sights.
- Bullet travel distance has been cleaned up to ensure all weapons follow the same rules.
- Hip Fire mechanics have been cleaned up to ensure all weapon classes follow the same rules..
- Damage falloff normalization has been fixed.
- Mobility LMGS are now 10% slower.
Reticles
The following updates have been made to Reticles:
- Red Dot C: Middle dot increased.
- Holo A: Middle dot increased.
- Holo B: Middle dot reduced.
- Holo C: Middle dot increased.
- Magnified A: Middle dot increased.
- Magnified C: Middle dot reduced.
Player Comfort
Pick-Up Detection Improvements
- Reworked pick-up detection to be more permissive.
Filtering Improvements
- A new filtering system allows players to filter Operators by their specialties in the Operator’s tab.
Operator Guides
- New Seasonal Operator (DEIMOS) Operator Guide is available in-game and in the Operator section.
Operator Album
- The Operator grid was adjusted to fit 44 operators for both Attackers and Defenders.
- When hovering over an Operator in the grid, the side preview displays information related to the Operator.
Shooting Range Updates
- New Seasonal Operator (DEIMOS) is available in the Shooting Range.
- Updated lane 3 layout for better player experience.

- Arcade now supports spectator mode.
- Removed Impact Grenades from Free For All game mode.
Unbannable Operator
- Deimos can’t be banned in the Ranked playlist for the first two weeks after release.
Ranked Exclusive Rewards
- Starting this season, players who reach Gold 1 in Ranked will receive an exclusive reward at the end of the season. For this season, players who reach Gold 1 in Ranked will receive an exclusive headgear for Thermite.
FEATURE UPDATE
Flasbang Customisation
- Feature allows players to select the type of visual and audio effect applied whenever the player is blinded by a flashbang or other blinding device.
