Rainbow Six Siege Y7S3 Operation Brutal Swarm: Release time, Patch size, and more

Ubisoft has officially announced that Rainbow Six Siege‘s latest Y7S3 Operation Brutal Swarm is releasing tomorrow on all platforms.

A new Singaporean operator named “Grim” will be appearing in Year 7 Season 3 of Siege. In addition, the Y7S3 patch will introduce a significant weapon recoil rework, a new secondary EMP device, and a reshuffle of weapon attachments and sights.

Siege’s Y7S3 Patch will be deployed tomorrow, September 6th, across all platforms. The servers will be down for approximately an hour for maintenance.

When is R6S Y7S3 Brutal Swarm releasing?

The Y7S3 Patch will be deployed at 13:00 UTC for PC, which includes Steam, Ubisoft Connect, Stadia, and Amazon Luna. For Xbox and Playstation users, the update will drop at 14:00 and 15:00 UTC respectively. The servers will go down for an hour for the patch to be deployed.

Patch Sizes

Note: Xbox patch sizes are larger due to some repackaged files, future patches should align more closely with other platforms.

  • Steam: 45 GB (Base/Non-HD)
  • Ubisoft Connect: 39.36 GB
  • Xbox One/ Series X: 30.50/33.47 GB
  • PS4/PS5: 59.59/33.69 GB

The patch size is larger than usual due to data consolidation. According to Ubisoft, this will save disk space, reduce overall build size, and improve loading times for players.

New Attacker: Grim

  • Role: Intel-Gathering / Area Denial.
  • Gadget: Kawan Hive Launcher.
    • Launcher that deploys a swarm of nano-bots that will red ping any defender that enters it’s radius for a short period of time.
    • 5 rounds in total with no reload between shots and a low firerate.
    • Canisters are melee-proof and bulletproof, but are vulnerable to explosives.
    • Counters:
      • Canisters can be disrupted by Mute’s jammers and entering it’s radius will stop the Hive effect.
      • The canister can be caught by Jäger’s ADS, Wamai’s MAG-NET (the canister will still deploy) or Aruni’s Surya Gate
      • Vigil won’t be pinged while his ERC-7 is on.
  • Weapons:
    • 552 Commando AR / SG-CQB Shotgun.
    • P229 Pistol.
  • Secondary gadgets:
    • Breach charges / Claymores.

Additional Map

  • Stadium Bravo has been added to all playlists.

Recoil Rework / Attachment Distribution

  • Recoil will now be distinct between PC and Console, and further changes to it will be tailored to the respective platform.
  • Vertical Recoil Progression:
    • Stepping ladder of recoil phases, the longer you hold down the trigger, the more vertical recoil you will get (~3 phases of this).
    • This effect will be stronger on LMG’s
  • Horizontal Recoil Progression:
    • Not as stronger as the Vertical Recoil effect but the longer you hold down the trigger, the stronger the horizontal sway will be.
    • This effect will be stronger on LMG’s
  • The intention is to promote the use of burst firing techniques, crosshair placement and skill rather than spray-and-pray or luck.
  • Attachment Distribution:
    • Muzzle Brake and Flash Hiders are coming to all weapons.
    • Vertical and angled grips will be available on more weapons.
    • Extended barrels with be available on more weapons.
    • Suppresors no longer have a damage penalty.
    • Scope availability has been updated on some weapons.

Gameplay Updates, New Features & Other Changes

Gameplay

  • Operators can now have a third secondary gadget option.
  • New secondary gadget: EMP Impact Grenade.
    • Range of 2 meters.
    • Instant detonation, same as impact grenades.
    • Will disable enemy gadgets for 9 seconds.
    • You can carry 2 of them.
    • Availability:
      • Sledge.
      • Montagne.
      • Blackbeard.
      • Dokkaebi.
      • Lion.
      • Gridlock.
      • Nokk.
      • Osa.
      • Recruit.
  • Rook.
    • Armor plates now grant the Withstand ability if you get DBNO.
  • Dokkaebi.
    • Dead operators will now be affected by Dokkaebi’s Logic Bomb, you won’t be able to interrupt it while dead.

Map Bans

  • The random selection of maps to ban has been increased from 3 to 5.

Tactical Map

  • The Tactical Map will now show the location of the found objective or the location of all possible objectives if they haven’t been found.
  • You can now select your spawn point by hovering over the spawn icon instead of choosing it on the menu.

Player Behavior

  • New main menu button “Reputation Penalties”, in here you can check your active penalties like automatic RFF and muted chat. This menu won’t display real time penalties like the ones for disconnections or kicks.
  • New automatic penalty that triggers for abusive chat and will mute your text messages to other players, they can choose to unmute you. This will last for several matches and atm only warnings will be deployed, penalties will be deployed in the future.

Match Replay

  • You can now report cheaters on Match Replay (all platforms)

Battle Pass

  • Now Battle Pass owners will have a 10% discount on the in-game shop, applied to any Renown or R6Credits purchase.
  • You can gift the Battle Pass to a friend:
    • Must have been friends with that person for over 90 days.
    • Atm the gift is platform-locked.

New cosmetics

  • Castle Elite | Point Blank Justice – Available August 22nd
