Siege X: New Changes
6v6 Dual Front Game Mode

After 10 years, Rainbow Six Siege is receiving a brand-new permanent game mode, which is a mixture of all the things that make Siege special. Dual Front is the first 6v6 game mode to be introduced in Siege, where teams have to attack the enemy sectors while defending their own.
In this mode, there will be two objective points: one in each team’s lane. A team must plant the defuser in the opposing team’s objective and defend it to progress towards the final objective: the Base. Once the Base is claimed, that team will secure victory.
Dual Front game mode will be played in a brand-new map called District, where there are gameplay opportunities both inside and outside the map.
Core Gameplay Updates
- Enhanced Maps & Graphics: Five maps (Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Kafe) are getting a visual overhaul with improved lighting, shadows, and double the texture resolution. An optional 4K texture pack is available on PC, with three additional maps getting updates each season.
- New Environmental Interactions: Destructible elements now have more tactical depth—red gas pipes can create fire hazards, fire extinguishers release vision-blocking smoke, and metal detectors can be destroyed or disabled with EMPs.
- Improved Rappelling: New motion capture technology makes rappelling smoother, allowing for horizontal sprinting and better movement around corners.
- Audio Overhaul: A complete revamp of sound propagation helps players detect enemy movement and actions more precisely.
- Communication Wheel: A new communication wheel makes non-verbal callouts easier, letting players strategically place different pings in the environment.
- Weapon Inspection: Players can now admire their weapon skins in-game.
- Ranked Pick & Ban Changes: The process is now simultaneous, speeding up decisions and allowing teams to adjust picks when switching sides for better strategy. Each round a team can ban 1 operator, so a total of 6 operators can be banned in a match.
- New Player Onboarding: Tutorials and skill training modules will help newcomers master the game before jumping into competitive matches.
Rainbow Six Siege will be becoming free to play with Siege X update, coming in Y10S2. However, there’s a slight catch. Free players will only have a limited pool of operators and only get access to the following modes: Unranked, Quick Play, and Dual Front.
So to play Ranked or the Siege Cup, players will have to purchase a premium access.
Those who already own Siege will retain all progress and items, and Ubisoft will be recognizing the veterans with special rewards.
