Ubisoft will soon be implementing phone number verification for Rainbow Six Siege players to access Ranked mode.
In a new post from Siege’s official Twitter, we got an update regarding the upcoming mid-season update. Alongside the new changes, the Y6S4.2 patch will also be laying some groundwork for the changes that will be dropping soon in Year 7.
One of the new security changes is the phone number verification for Ranked. “Beginning next season, all players will be required to link their phone number to their Ubisoft Account to join Ranked.”
This anti-cheat measure is aimed to curb hackers and slow them down from entering the game again with another account. Additionally, this step will aid in making the creation of smurf accounts more laborious.
In order to link your phone number to your account, go to Ubisoft Connect, then Account Information, and add Recovery Phone Number. If you have already added a phone number, then you are good to go.
Ubisoft is set to make a positive start regarding Siege’s anti-cheat measure in Year 7. Although some players are still very skeptical if this step will do anything to slow down the cheaters. However, Ubisoft is prepared to take further steps to strengthen its anti-cheat throughout Year 7.
