Pokemon Scarlet and Violet take the pokemon game back to its route. The previous game was Pokemon Arceus which saw many changes in the pokemon formula. But this one takes some of the tricks from its previous game but keeps the core formula to its traditional route. This game is an open world with visible pokemon around the world.
The game has all the typical open-world features. This includes a weather system too. The dynamic weather system can change up the gameplay in some cases too. The weather can affect your pokemon both in positive and negative ways. Depending on the weather, some activity can get blocked, and so on. Here we have listed all the weather and its effect on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

All the weathers have positive and negative effects depending on the type of pokemon you use. So let us go through them individually to find out all the effects.
Harsh Sunlight
Harsh Sunlight is the rarest type of weather you will have to face in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Here are the effects of this weather:

- Water-type moves lose power.
- Thunder and Hurricane loses accuracy.
- Leaf Guard gets immune to status conditions.
Sandstrom

- Sand rush gets a Speed boost.
- Some healing moves are less effective.
- Solar Beam loses power.
Rain
Rain is the most common weather in the overworld outside of the desert. Rain has two different versions: Heavy rain or Normal Rain. Both of them have the same effect as far as the pokemon battle goes. Here are the effects of rain on the pokemon:
- Water-type moves get a power increase.
- Dry Skin and Rain Dish recover HP.
- Thunder and Hurricane doesn’t need an accuracy check.
- Swift Swim gets a speed boost.
- Some healing moves are less effective.
- Hydration will automatically cure status conditions.
- Fire-type moves have half the original power.
- Solar Beam needs an extra turn to charge.
Snow
Snow is a relatively new effect for the pokemon games. This effect is only found in the northern regions of the game. Here are the effects snow weather has on the pokemon battle:
- Ice-type pokemon gets a Def. increase.
- Blizzard doesn’t need an accuracy check.
- Slush Rush gets a speed boost.
- Ice Body will recover some HP every turn.
- Some healing moves are less effective.
- Snow Clock has higher evasiveness.
These are all the effects each weather can have when battling another pokemon in this weather. But the weather can affect them a lot more in the games. You cannot set up a picnic in a rain. Some pokemon can evolve differently depending on the weather too.
