Are you looking to harvest some berries? Our guide lists all the berries and their effects in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, including where to find them.
Berries have been an essential item in every Pokémon game. They have varying uses, from HP recovery to buffs, immunity, status conditions, increase Friendship, etc. The best part is that you can find them scattered around the map and pick them up. No need to spend money on other items.
Furthermore, berries are also beneficial if you’re a hardcore Pokémon gamer or play competitively since some berries can be used to reset and customize EV points. This lets you have better control over your Pokémon’s stats. Hence, helping them gain their full potential.
Although many, especially casual Pokémon players, ignore the use of berries in-game, we advise you to gather them whenever you can, utilize their effect to the fullest, and use them to your advantage in tough battles. Berries can be fed or held depending on their type. Some are used in making Pokéblocks and Poffins.
Lastly, you can also use berries to strengthen your bonds with your Pokémon friends and keep them happy, as berries are also a delicacy for Pokémons. Different Pokémons have different tastes for berries. Some like sour berries, some like sweet ones, and so on.
This guide will help you learn about all the different berries in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet so that you know which ones would benefit you the most and where you can pick them up.
Berries that Reset EV and Boost Friendship
Effort Values, aka EVs, are special points that raise the stats of your Pokémon after you win a battle. Every Pokémon have its fixed EV linked to a specific stat, and defeating them gives you those EV points. Therefore, battling different Pokémons raises different stats.
If you’re looking to maximize your Pokémon’s strengths, you should be looking to have more control of their stats and EVs so that you can raise the specific stats of the Pokémon in which they excel. For example, Speed and Special Attacks for Floatzel.
Only through feeding specific berries can you lower EVs and hence the stats of your Pokémon and then train them to raise those stats the way you want. There are 6 berries in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that lowers different stats. Each Berry decreases a stat by 10 points.
Boosting Friendship is another essential element in any Pokémon game, and you can raise this bond in several ways. One of these ways is to feed them berries that they like (unique for every Pokémon) and berries that lower EV.
One of the reasons for increasing Friendship with your Pokémon is that some Pokémon evolve only when their friendliness reaches a certain point.
