Oxenfree 2 is a long-awaited harvest from its predecessor. The story, developed by Night School Studio, continues to thrill us with its engaging gameplay and gripping story. The in-game mechanic is basically built on the choices you make, built on the path you take. And after all these have merged, you finally get the ending you deserve after all along.
Each of these endings has its own set of consequences for all the characters that you are gonna bind yourself with. That’s not it, even the characters like Evelyn and Charlie, the secondary characters of this story, can also be affected by your choices.

How Many Endings in Oxenfree 2: Lost Signal?
By this time, you are at Edwards Island. The only thing to do here is to stop Olivia from opening a portal for the Sunken. At this very moment, the phantom of Alex says that someone has to be left behind for the protection of the reality. Here, you will be given three choices and three choices only. Each of these choices is also bound up with certain trophies to achieve.
A good day waiting on the other side
Choose Riley to venture through the portal into the Void. That will make Olivia get back to reality. Whereas Alex, along with their friends, is freed from the void’s grasp. In the next scene, we will see that Riley awakens at the bus stop and goes on a new journey with her son, Rex. This appears to be a different iteration of Camena.
In this reality, Riley tries to find peace in living on her own terms. The conclusion part portrays Riley and Rex trailing on a hike, which strongly symbolizes their bond and the fresh start. Moreover, we can sense Riley’s personal growth and her desire to forge a fulfilling existence. Which in terms also means leaving behind the burdens of the past.
With Planetshine in her eyes
Choose Olivia to step through the portal. It will send Riley back to reality and free Alex and their friends from the void. However, Olivia’s fate seems to be in a haze, but still, we can assume that she got what she always wanted, a place in the void with her parents.
The next scene starts as if the previous events had never occurred. In a moment, Riley will receive a call from Evelyn. She will thank Riley for doing the job successfully. Later, Alex will join in a conversation with Riley. In their convo, none of them seems to recall the events from the previous game.
We will see that Jacob stays behind in Camena. He wants to restart everything and step out with a dream of being an artist. In the conclusion part, we will see Alex sending a package of items to Rex. This can be narrated as their strong bond built over the past times and hope to remain that way in the next adventures.
Nonetheless, this ending is the best one for me as it appears to fulfill the desires of most of the characters that are involved. Camena remains unchanged, and life seems to resume its usual rhythm. Other than Olivia being in the void, this ending is for the greater good.
Take care of Athena
There is also an option to choose Jacob. However, there is a prerequisite, and it is quite missable. All you have to do is allow Jacob to join the rest of the crew on the voyage to Edwards Island. It will eventually opt out of Jacob’s path to enter the traversing portal.
In this case, Riley, Olivia, Alex, and their friends will return to reality in Camena. As Jacob is no longer present with them, Athena and Riley take the responsibility of looking after his dog, Athena.
With this option, you will also embrace the feeling Jacob feels in his final moments; a purely selfless act based on sacrificing his own presence for the sake of his friends. We will also be able to see the epilogue, which showcases Riley’s dedication as she takes on the role of caring for Athena.
