One of the runes in League of Legends, Overheal, is getting a massive change in Patch 13.2.

With the release of Patch 13.11, the game was being monitored to see what issues would pop up. Based on that and Patch 13.10, Riot has identified many champions and items as unbalanced in League of Legends.

Thus Patch 13.12 came out as a pretty big patch with many changes. Almost all the Pro Play champions got nerfed, while some languishing champions got buffed. Meanwhile, Riot is still addressing some of the item changes done in Patch 13.10 and will hopefully get to a point where it becomes relatively stable.

However, it feels like Riot is playing a lot of catch-up as they are trying to gather data and then address the issues appropriately. This process is delaying many necessary issues that must be fixed, like the power level of Zeri and Yuumi.

It is nice to see Riot addressing them in Patch 13.12. One surprising change that is coming is the adjustments to Overheal. The rune was predominantly used for ADCs, but that could change after Patch 13.12. Here is what we know about it.

Overheal Changes

Before talking further about the change, let’s outline the exact numbers first.

  • Shield Gained: 20 – 300 (level 1-18) >>> 11% Maximum HP.

The rune is being changed to now work on Maximum HP instead of flat shield gains. This makes it much better on bruisers while making it weaker for ADCs. Thus, Riot is changing the functionality of the rune to make it worse for ADCs.

As a popular rune for that class of champions, it is a blow for them, but now Bruisers have more options. They can opt for either Triumph or Overheal now. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out.
