A new comment is out as Riot explains why a VGU Poll has not been done in 2023 from League of Legends.

Riot is under a lot of fire with the decisions they have talked about in regard to cosmetics in League of Legends. As of late, there has been a number of issues that have popped up in terms of cosmetic releases. Needless to say, Riot’s decisions have made some players unhappy with the situation.

It starts with the Samira release as she looks nowhere near an Ultimate tier skin. With the makeshift part of it all, Riot has still gone forward with it being an Ultimate skin, and that did not please players.

Recently, they announced Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin, which is a Mythic variant of the beloved Dark Cosmic Jhin skin. However, the only way to get it is through a version of the Showcase Milestones, which amounts to $200 to guarantee it.

This has angered many of the players as Riot is trying to explore the Gacha system. Since then, Riot has not backed down from going forward with the system to acquire the Variant skin. Amongst this controversy, Riot talked about why they did not do a VGU poll this year, as players were wondering about it. This is what Riot said about it.

No VGU Poll in 2023

Riot Lexical headed over to Twitter to talk about why there was not a VGU poll in 2023. This was shared by Spideraxe on Reddit.

It’s a huge post, so we will summarize it the best we can. According to Riot Lexical, VGUs are extremely costly and taxing on the team. So, VGUs take a lot of effort, research, and such to get right. So, this process takes a lot of time unless Riot is willing to take a hit in terms of quality.

Last year’s poll put a lot of pressure and stress on the team according to Riot Lexical. This happened due to Riot doing a poll while the Udyr rework was in progress. The pressure caused problems in the team, but they still did a poll and went forward with the Skarner VGU results.

So, Riot does not want to repeat the same process and is deciding to hold off on the VGU poll this year. This does not mean the Poll is canceled, but rather it will not be done right now. Thus, it’s hard to say how further the next poll be pushed.

Riot Lexical ended the whole post on a positive note as she mentioned that they are trying to do some more stuff to modernize League of Legends. More about the Skarner, Jax, and future VU/VGU will appear in a future dev update video.

The fans have not taken kindly to this post, as this just means Riot is just delaying fixing a lot of the game. Perception amongst players is that Riot is focusing more on skins than doing actual work to improve the game.

Riot only has to work to alleviate this perception, and we hope they can improve the game over time.
