Opportunity is the newest item on the block for the opportunistic Assassin class.
Assassin class as a whole is probably one of the most frustrating classes to play against in League of Legends. The reasoning behind such frustration towards its class mostly stems from the items that the class uses rather than the champions themselves.
Most assassin-class items are pretty overturned. Items like Duskblade of Draktharr and Prowler’s Claw are so overturned that other classes, such as Bruiser and Marksmen, regularly use them. This is why Riot is revamping the assassin item this Preseason.
For Preseason 2024, Riot is removing the Mythic system from the game. So problematic Items like Duskblade of Draktharr are finally being removed. Prowler’s Claw is also being removed. But in its place, Riot is giving assassins a lot more new toys to play with.
One of these new toys is the assassin item Opportunity. It’s a new item specially designed for roaming assassins like Talon. With the item, assassins can now reliably go in and out when assassinating priority targets.
With that said, let us take a closer look at the new Assassin item, Opportunity.
- Total Cost: 2700 gold
- Item Recipe: Serrated Dirk + Nether Shard + 800 gold
- 55 Attack Damage
- 18 Lethality
- 6% Movement Speed
- Passive – Murder: After being out of combat with Champions for 8 seconds gains bonus Lethality. This Lethality lasts for 3 seconds after dealing damage to champions.
- Passive – Murderspeed: If a champion dies within 3 seconds of damaging them, gain 150 decaying movement speed for 1.5 seconds.
Opportunity is looking to be a core item for the opportunistic assassins, especially Jungle assassins. This cheap 2700 Gold item provides Attack Damage, Lethality, and Movement Speed, all stats that most assassins like.
In addition, the item has two unique passives that let assassins do their jobs even better. The first passive, Murder, provides the user with bonus lethality after being out of combat for 8 seconds. The extra Lethality is pretty useful when assassinating priority targets.
But its second passive is what takes the cake. Opportunity’s second passive, Murderspeed, gives 150 decaying movement speed to its user after a champion dies within damaging them. This is especially useful for assassins who do not have escape tools built into their kit, like Rengar. Other assassin champions like Kha’Zix and Shadow Assassin Kayn should also be able to utilize the passive pretty well.
Overall, Opportunity looks to be a very solid item for most assassins.
Opportunity, along with all the new items, will arrive in League of Legends in Patch 14.1, which is scheduled to be released in early January.
