Recent leaks suggest that in season 13, Riot will release a new type of lobby cosmetic, Profile Banner.
After season 12, Riot added more ways to customize the player’s lobby and profiles. Before, there were only a few ways that players could personalize their profiles. These include a Profile Avatar, Profile Background, an option to switch between the rank border and level border, etc.
In the past season, Riot added many new personalization options. Additionally, they are challenges badge, an option to pick the level borders that the player unlocked before, titles, etc. Most of the customization mentioned earlier could be shown on the loading screen.
Moreover, Riot is adding these features to make the game more casual-friendly, as the only other grindable option includes rank climbing. And currently, it seems that Riot will be adding more cosmetic options for the lobby screen.
Currently, in PBE, a new option can be seen in the profile customize option, Profile Banner.

Upcoming Lobby Cosmetic: Profile Banner
The upcoming Profile Banner will work similarly to the current Rank Banners. You can see your rank border around your avatar and profile border. You can also see your Rank Banners on the loading screen as well.
While they are a good novelty item if you are in high elo, if the player is in the below-average rank, it is not a good item to show off. Moreover, currently, there isn’t any way to disable the Rank Banners, especially if you play ranked. The Profile Banners will replace the Rank banners. Furthermore, the players can still pick their ranks as their banner if they are proud.
While this lobby cosmetic is a welcome addition, it will most likely cost RP or any other premium currency. While Riot did not officially reveal their official prices, as Lunar Revel 2023 is a selectable Profile Banner, we can expect them to cost event tokens.
