A comprehensive endgame guide for Monster Hunter Wilds.

Monster Hunter Wilds has a short main story compared to most other RPGs, taking only 13 to 20 hours to finish. However, beating the main story is just the beginning of Monster Hunter Wilds, and there is a wealth of content for you to go through in the endgame.

Most veteran fans of the series know that the endgame is the main portion of any Monster Hunter game and has hundreds of hours of content. You could even look at the main story of Monster Hunter Wilds as a long tutorial of sorts.

The endgame revolves around getting stronger by fighting tougher monsters, and crafting better gear.

In this article, we’ve listed everything you should focus on first during the endgame of Monster Hunter Wilds.

Raise Your Hunter Rank

Monster Hunter Wild’s Campain is made up of low-rank missions. After you complete the campaign, i.e Chapter 3, you’ll transition into High-Rank, and thus unlock High Rank missions, including post-game story missions.

Chapters 4-6 are made up of high rank missions, and are more open than the earlier story missions.

Tempered Monsters

In these high rank missions, you’ll be facing off against Tempered Monsters, more difficult versions of regular monsters. You’ll also get significantly better rewards for beating Tempered Monsters, including Weapon Shards to craft Artian Weapons. Thus, you’ll be able to get stronger gear and max out your builds.

Complete Your Builds

Your main focus in the endgame should be to complete a build for all weapos in the game, or at least your favourite weapons. Moreover, each weapon also has their own skill types, and you can make builds for each skill type.

This is also a great time to experiment with different weapons, builds, and loadouts. You never know, you might just find a new favorite weapon.

Artian Weapons

Artian Weapons are some of the strongest weapons in the game, and you’ll first get access to them during the endgame.

What sets them apart from other weapons is that they are customizable. That is, you can tweak their bonus effects such as damage multipliers, as well as its Affinity and what type of Elemental Damage it does.

Artian Weapons are forged using Weapon Shards, which you can get by defeating Tempered Monsters.

You’ll meet your first Tempered Monster during Mission 4-3: Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns, where you’ll face off against a Tempered Lala Barina.

After this, Tempered Monsters will start popping around the map. This will make up the gameplay loop of Monster Hunter Wild’s endgame. Defeat monsters, craft gear, defeat stronger monsters, craft stronger gear, and so on.

Field Surveys and Investigations

Field Surveys are quests created from attacking monsters roaming the map in real time. You can also start a Field Survey from the world map. While these Field Surveys are a good way to farm monsters, they also give lucrative bonus rewards like Monster Gems.

You can also save a Field Survey as an Investigation, if you want to attempt it later. The main benefit here is that you can do this even if the monster isn’t on the map, thus allowing you to focus on a specific monster for a small fee of guild points.

Field surveys can also help you level up your Hunter Rank.

Side Quests

During the endgame, you’ll need to level up your Hunter Rank to progress. One of the easiest ways to do this is by completing side quests.

You’ll start getting side quests right after the prologue, however you can start completing them without interruption after you finish the main story. Moreover, side quests do not have a time limit, and you can complete them whenever regardless of when you first got them.

Event Quests

Event Quests are limited-time quests/hunts, because all games have to be live service now. They are similar to regular quests, requiring a minimum hunter rank, and sending you out to hunt a target monster. However, their rewards include exclusive items.

As of now, there aren’t any very special event quests, but we do expect that to change in the future, as previous Monster Hunter games have even collaborated with other franchises such as Devil May Cry.

Multiplayer Hunts

Maybe the best part of Monster Hunter’s endgame is the ability to go on hunts with other players.

After you finish the main story, you’re free to go on multiplayer hunts, and it is difficult to beat the sheer joy of fighting big monsters with your friends.
