Everything you need to know about Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Monster Hunter Wilds has a simple enough gameplay loop: Defeat a monster, use the spoils to craft weapons and armor, defeat stronger monsters, craft stronger gear, and so on and so forth.
It is a gameplay loop that fans of the series love, and to get the strongest gear in the game, you have to beat the strongest monsters in the game.
Artian Weapons are some of the strongest weapons in the game, and you’ll be able to get your hands on them during the endgame.
What sets them apart from other weapons is that they are customizable. That is, you can tweak their bonus effects such as damage multipliers, as well as its Affinity and what type of Elemental Damage it does.
In this article, we’ve detailed how you can craft your first Artian Weapon, and the materials you’ll need to do so.
How to Unlock Artian Weapons
Artian Weapons are forged using Weapon Shards, which you can get by defeating Tempered Monsters.
You’ll meet your first Tempered Monster during Mission 4-3: Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns, where you’ll face off against a Tempered Lala Barina.
Defeating the Lala Barina will drop a Damaged Weapon Shard, which you can use to craft Artian Weapons. Moreover, Tempered Monsters will start to spawn around the map, allowing you to grind Weapon Shards.
The tier of Weapon Shard you get depends on the tier of the Tempered Monster:
- Tier 1 Tempered Monsters:
- Damaged Weapon Shards.
- Tier 2 Tempered Monsters:
- Rusted Weapon Shards.
- Tier 3 Tempered Monsters:
- Ancient Weapon Fragments.

Talk to Gemma and select Reinforce/Dismantle Artian Weapon. Then, you can use your Reinforcement Materials to upgrade your Artian Weapon, giving it random bonuses to its Attack, Affinity, Sharpness, Element, or Defense stats.
