Modern Warfare 2 features an extensive collection of maps. Here are all the playable maps available for players in MW2.

Call of Duty titles is widely known for their maps. All these titles feature maps with a unique sense of flow and playstyle. Some maps are made for long-range gunfights, while some are made for close-range gunfights that involve a lot of tight maneuvers.

Modern Warfare 2 is no exception, the game features around 16 maps and more coming with the launch of Season 1. The maps are divided into 6v6 game modes, 32v32 ground war game modes, and invasion. Here’s a list of all the maps present in Modern Warfare 2.

All Multiplayer Maps

There are 16 multiplayer maps with 11 6v6 Core Maps, 5 Ground War, and Invasion maps. The core maps originate from Al Mazrah, Las Almas, and the rest of the world.

6v6 Core Maps

  • Al Bagra Fortress
  • Breenburgh Hotel
  • Crown Raceway (Previously known as Grand Prix)
  • El Asilo
  • Embassy
  • Farm 18
  • Mercado Las Almas
  • Museum
  • Santa Seña Border Crossing
  • Taraq
  • Valderas Museum (Removed from the game)
  • Zarqwa Hydroelectric

Out of the 11 core maps, the Valderas Museum has been removed from the game for its uncanny resemblance with the Getty Museum. Infinity Ward has not stated anything about the map’s current status and when it might return to MW2. Furthermore, the Breenbergh Hotel map is facing the same controversy due to its resemblance with a hotel from Amsterdam.

These are the 16 launch maps present in Modern Warfare 2. However, more maps will be added to the game with the launch of Season 1. Infinity Ward is reportedly bringing back classic maps from previous CoD titles of Treyarch and Sledgehammer games.
