Marvel Rivals Patch Notes Version 20260417: Full Buffs, Nerfs, and Hero Changes

Marvel Rivals Version 20260417 is shaping up to be one of the more meaningful balance patches in Season 7.5. Instead of just nudging a few numbers around, NetEase is also introducing a brand new Chain CC Protection system aimed at reducing frustrating stun lock situations, while several heroes across Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist are getting noticeable buffs and nerfs. The update is scheduled to go live after server maintenance begins on April 17 at 9 AM UTC, with downtime expected to last around two hours.

What stands out most here is the direction of the patch. Marvel Rivals is clearly trying to make fights feel fairer and more readable. Some of the strongest suppression and crowd control tools are being toned down, while a few underused or overly situational heroes are getting changes that should make them feel smoother and more rewarding in real matches.

Chain CC Protection is the biggest gameplay change

The headline feature of the patch is Chain CC Protection. According to the official balance post, the system triggers when a hero suffers 5.5 seconds of total crowd control or gets hit by 6 CC effects inside a 7-second window. Once triggered, it instantly clears active CC and grants 30 percent Tenacity for 3 seconds.

While active, each new CC effect raises Tenacity by 10 percent and extends the buff by 0.5 seconds. If that Tenacity reaches 100 percent, the hero becomes fully immune to crowd control until the effect ends. The system then goes on a 5-second cooldown after the final Tenacity effect expires.

There is one important exception. Animation-driven cinematic CC, including Emma Frost’s Carbon Crush and Monster Hulk’s World Breaker, bypasses the system. That means Marvel Rivals wants to target chain lockdown from layered team utility, not completely erase the identity of big set-piece abilities.

Emma Frost and Peni Parker get notable Vanguard changes

Emma Frost is getting a straight buff. Her Psionic Seduction ultimate now costs 3100 energy instead of 3400, which should let her threaten teamfights more often and strengthen her suppression role.

Peni Parker gets a more mixed update. Her base health drops from 700 to 650, so she is a little less durable up front. At the same time, she can now have 4 Cyber Webs on the field instead of 3, the bonus health cap from those webs rises from 150 to 200, and Cyber Web Cluster projectile speed goes from 120 m/s to 150 m/s. In other words, she loses some raw survivability but gains more control, better setup potential, and stronger positional play.

Deadpool, in his Vanguard form, is on the other side of the balance swing. The Ban Hammer ultimate loses damage per hammer hit, its bonus health gain is reduced, and the bonus attack speed shared through his team-up synergy also gets cut. This looks like a clear attempt to tone down his burst and snowball pressure.

Duelists see a heavy round of tuning

The Duelist class arguably gets the most interesting hero adjustments in this patch. Elsa Bloodstone is being reined in with a longer Helix Advance cooldown and lower Monster Piercer percentage damage. That specifically reduces how hard she punishes tankier targets, especially Vanguards.

Human Torch gets more of a redesign than a standard buff or nerf. Plasma Body now gives him an immediate short dash, lasts 4 seconds, has 2 charges, and recharges in 10 seconds per charge, with a 4-second cooldown between uses. It sounds like the goal is to give him sharper movement bursts while making his mobility pattern easier for opponents to track.

Winter Soldier is also getting reshaped in a big way. His Trooper’s Fist loses its Grounded effect, Bionic Hook cooldown increases from 12 to 15 seconds, and Spell Field damage is lowered. In return, he gets some offensive improvements like higher Roterstern projectile damage, faster Tainted Voltage charge time, and a stronger Kraken Impact culling threshold. The official post makes it pretty clear that the devs want Bucky to feel less like a CC bodyguard and more like a direct damage threat.

Strategists are getting both buffs and nerfs

Adam Warlock gets a small but useful buff, with Cosmic Cluster now reducing Avatar Life Stream cooldown by 0.4 seconds per enemy hit instead of 0.3. That should improve his healing rhythm in active fights.

Cloak and Dagger take a nerf, with Eternal Bond duration dropping from 13 seconds to 11 seconds. Jeff the Land Shark is also being toned down, as Joyful Splash now loses damage sooner at range, though his failed ultimate recovery time is much shorter at 0.4 seconds instead of 1 second. That means less pressure from safe poke and backline harassment, but less punishment when Jeff misses a big play.

Luna Snow gets one of the simplest buffs in the patch, with Light and Dark Ice damage and healing rising from 22 to 24. It is a modest number change, but it should still help her baseline combat value.

Ultron, meanwhile, gets one of the biggest late fight upgrades in the update. His Rage of Ultron ultimate now expands from a 3-meter radius to a 6-meter radius, while the logic of the surrounding drones changes so they bombard the area around the target instead of firing directly at the crosshair. After activation, Ultron’s own Encephalo Rays damage increases from 8 to 18, drone damage rises from 8 to 12, and healing on allies goes from 25 to 40. That is a pretty serious rework to his ultimate presence.

Team Up abilities are changing

The Guardian of the Deep team-up involving Venom, Jeff the Land Shark, and Hela is getting nerfed. Excess healing converted into bonus health drops from 100 to 50, while healing efficiency falls from 70 per second to 60 per second. That should cut down on how oppressive the alliance can feel in extended fights.

On the flip side, Version 20260417 adds a new team up called Lucky Loan for Black Cat, White Fox, and Captain America. Black Cat gains a 5 percent damage boost as the anchor, while White Fox unlocks Nine-Tailed Aura, and Captain America gets Vibranium Bastion through the new pairing.
