Everything you need to know about Mouse Acceleration in Marvel Rivals and how to turn it off.
Marvel Rivals is a competitive 6v6 hero shooter. In it, every move counts and you’ll need to optimize your movement and aiming if you want to outplay your opponents. You might be playing as your favorite Marvel Heroes, but that won’t matter if you’re not using them properly.
No doubt Marvel Rivals is going to be regularly updated for a long time to come. But, as of right now there are some problems that can at best be a mild inconvenience, and at worst, cost you a play, or even a match. Mouse Acceleration is one such problem that can affect your gameplay.
Mouse Acceleration makes your mouse move faster depending on how fast you move it regardless of your sensitivity settings. Thus, if you make an abrupt turn it will move faster than usual.
This can cause you to lose control of your movement, and obviously, this will cause some problems in a competitive game like Marvel rivals.
However, the problem isn’t the addition of Mouse Acceleration, it’s that there’s no option to turn it off in the game itself.
But there is a method to turn off Mouse Acceleration in Marvel Rivals, and in this article, we’ll be looking at how you can do just that.
How to Turn off Mouse Acceleration
As of right now, there is no way to turn off Mouse Acceleration in-game. But, you can configure the game’s files manually to turn Mouse Acceleration off. The steps to do this are quite simple and are given below:
- From your desktop, press Ctrl+R to open up Run.
- Paste the following path into the text bar, replacing the C with whichever drive your Marvel Rivals folder is in:
- C:\Users\”yourname”\appdata\local\marvel\saved\config\windows.
- Find the ‘GameUserSettings’ file in this folder.
- Open it with Notepad.
- Paste the following at the end of the script:
[/Script/Engine.InputSettings]
bEnableMouseSmoothing=False
bViewAccelerationEnabled=False - Save the changes and start Marvel Rivals.
Keep in mind that Marvel Rivals’ support team has advised against using this method. NetEase has commented against disabling mouse acceleration this way saying, “at this time, we kindly advise against modifying game files in Marvel Rivals, as it may lead to unexpected issues.”
There haven’t been any reported bans from using this method, but we advise staying away from it if you do not wanna risk it.
But don’t worry, we have good news for you if you do not want to risk a ban but can’t risk mouse acceleration.
NetEase have officially announced that they are working on a fix for this problem, and you should be able to turn off Mouse Acceleration in-game in Season 1.
