Black Cat is finally making her move in Marvel Rivals, and she already looks like one of the slickest additions the game has had in a while. Felicia Hardy is arriving as part of Season 7.5, bringing a high mobility Duelist kit built around fast flanks, stolen Fortune, and a brand new Team Up ability that ties her to White Fox and Captain America. Season 7.5 begins on April 17, according to Marvel Rivals’ official Dev Vision update.
What makes Black Cat stand out right away is that she does not sound like a simple run-in-and-slash kind of DPS. Everything revealed so far points to a more layered hero who mixes movement, resource theft, and utility in a way that could make her one of the trickier Duelists to master. Based on the current official and early hands-on breakdowns, she looks built for players who like flanking, outplaying, and constantly forcing enemies to second-guess where the next hit is coming from.
Black Cat release date in Marvel Rivals
Black Cat releases with Marvel Rivals Season 7.5 on April 17. That part is official, as NetEase confirmed in its latest Dev Vision post that Season 7.5 arrives on April 17. Marvel Rivals’ new balance post also ties Black Cat directly to the Season 7.5 update through the new Lucky Loan Team Up.
She is also being introduced as the game’s newest Duelist, and NetEase has positioned her as an agile damage dealer rather than a Vanguard or Strategist.
Black Cat’s abilities in Marvel Rivals
Black Cat’s kit revolves around mobility first. Current details point to wall climbing, double jumping, and a grappling hook as core parts of her movement package. That already makes her sound like a nightmare for slow backline heroes, because she should be able to enter fights from awkward angles, escape quickly, and keep pressure on supports and fragile Duelists.
Her damage style leans into close-range claw strikes. According to the currently available previews, Black Cat uses fast claw-based attacks and can steal a special resource called Fortune from enemies while fighting. That Fortune system seems to be the heart of her gameplay loop, because it lets her either improve her own offensive pressure or trade the resource for other effects.
The grappling hook is one of the most important parts of the kit revealed so far. Black Cat can use it not just for movement, but also to steal Fortune from enemies at range. That means the hook is not just mobility flair. It sounds like a real playmaking tool that feeds the rest of her kit and helps her build momentum before diving in.
Then there is the Gilded Saint system, which is where Black Cat starts sounding very different from the rest of the roster. Also, she can trade stolen Fortune with the Gilded Saint to gain access to treasures such as the Ring of Zona, the Helm of Hades, and Namor’s Mento Fish. Those treasures are said to unlock extra hero effects, with reported utility including invisibility, enemy reveals in an area, portal creation, crowd control cleansing, and other team helpful bonuses.
That is a lot packed into one hero, so it is worth noting that full official ability names and exact in-game values have not been fully laid out in the Marvel Rivals text posts yet. Right now, the clearest public picture is that Black Cat combines assassin mobility with a resource economy that lets her flex between selfish pressure and utility options. In practice, that could make her one of the more creative Duelists on the roster if the final live version matches these previews.
Black Cat Team Up ability explained
Black Cat is also arriving with a new Team Up called Lucky Loan. This part is fully official. Marvel Rivals confirmed that Lucky Loan links Black Cat with White Fox and Captain America. As the Team Up Anchor, Black Cat gets a 5 percent boost in damage output. White Fox gains access to Nine-Tailed Aura through the combo, while Captain America unlocks Vibranium Bastion.
That matters because it gives Black Cat value beyond just her personal DPS. Even before players fully solve her own kit, she is already coming into the game with direct synergy hooks that could make her attractive in coordinated team comps. If White Fox and Captain America stay popular, Black Cat could end up fitting naturally into lineups much faster than most new heroes do. That is an inference from the confirmed Team Up design rather than a published balance verdict, but it is an obvious possibility.
Is Black Cat official in Marvel Rivals now?
Yes, Black Cat is no longer just a tease. Marvel Rivals has already tied her directly to Season 7.5 through official update posts, and an official character reveal trailer is live as well. The game’s Season 7.5 rollout confirms she is part of the update arriving on April 17.
So at this point, the real question is not whether she is coming. It is whether she is about to become one of the most annoying backline hunters in the game.
Black Cat already looks like a very different kind of Marvel Rivals Duelist. She has speed, vertical movement, claw-based burst, a Fortune-stealing mechanic, and utility options that sound much deeper than the usual damage hero toolkit. Add in the Lucky Loan Team Up, and she has a real chance to shake up Season 7.5 right away.
