If you have played any other Mario games before, you know there are items in every team Mario game that you can use. Mario Strikers: Battle League is no different. There are a few items you can find in the game, and they mostly function like they are in other games with slight adjustments.
But not all the items from other Mario games are present in Mario Strikers: Battle League. Here is a breakdown of the items you can find in the game. In addition to that, we will discuss what they do in the game too.

All the Items in Mario Strikers: Battle League
Mario Strikers: Battle League features six different items. These items are also available in other games like Mario Cart. They work primarily the same as those games but are adjusted for Mario Strikers: Battle League. That being said, here is a list of all the items and what they do in this game:
Red Shell
Red Shell works pretty much the same across most of the Mario games. In Mario Strikers: Battle League, Red Shell targets the closest player and goes after that player. If any other player comes in the shell’s way, it will knock him down too. But it will break once it hits the border of the arena.
Green Shell
Green Shell also knocks down players like the Red Shells. However, even though they do the same thing, they behave pretty differently. While Red Shell targets the closest player, you must manually aim the green shell.
Once you release the green shell, it will knock down any player in its path. It can also hit your own teammates. So, you will have to be careful about that. And the green shell will not break if it hits the border of the arena. Instead, it will just bounce off it. It will break after a specific time.
Banana
Banana works just like you expect it to work. It makes the player slip on it, which makes the player unable to move for a short time. So, you can launch the banana directly at the player to instantly make them trip, or you can just throw down the banana to create an obstacle in the field.
Bob-omb
Bob-omb is the bomb that shows up as an enemy in many Mario games. Here, the Bob-omb can be used in two ways. First, if you throw the bomb directly at a player and it hits them, it will knock them for a brief period. Then the bomb will go off, creating an Aoe blast zone. Anyone caught in the blast zone will get knocked.
So, you can hit multiple players with Bob-omb if you throw it strategically. But most of the time, you will be throwing the bob-omb as a substitute shell. This way, you get to knock a player, and others cannot come near him.
Mushroom
Mushroom in Mario Strikers: Battle League works like how they work in Mario Cart. They boost the speed of the player that uses the item. This short speed boost can be a key to stopping an opponent from scoring a goal. So it is a handy item to have.
Star
Star in Mario Striker: Battle League is a surprisingly complex item. On the surface, it may look like Star makes the player invincible, but it does a lot more than that. For starters, the Star makes the character invincible, and any player who comes in contact with the player gets knocked out while the item is active.
But the Star also boosts all the attributes of that character. So, while the Star is active, it will be easier to line up and score a perfect goal than when it is not active. And the best part is that no one can do anything about it as you line up for your shot.
