Bungie has offered Marathon players an early look at a striking new Destroyer Shell Style featuring an apparent Blue Oni theme. The cosmetic combines the Destroyer’s heavily armoured frame with bold blue colouring, dark mechanical plating and a menacing mask inspired by Japanese folklore.
The developer has not confirmed the cosmetic’s official name yet, but its Oni-like appearance and visual similarities to the Kasha Yokai Thief Shell Style make the inspiration clear.

The new cosmetic gives the Destroyer Shell a dramatic makeover. Its most noticeable feature is the glowing pale-green mask, complete with sharp horns and an aggressive expression. Blue patterns cover the Shell’s oversized armour, while darker sections preserve Destroyer’s intimidating industrial design.
Bungie shared both a detailed character sheet and a promotional image showing the Shell seated against a bright blue and white background. The presentation makes the Destroyer look more like a towering cybernetic warrior than a traditional Runner.
Bungie said it knows Destroyer players have been asking for additional styles and confirmed that this new option will arrive later in the season. Bungie also suggested that players who enjoyed the Kasha Yokai Thief Shell Style should feel at home with the upcoming design.
The Destroyer preview was shared alongside an update concerning the Sentinel S’phticide Cryo Archive Shell Style. According to Bungie, that Sentinel cosmetic is currently scheduled to arrive later in Season 3 while the team continues finalising the season’s content.
This is not the first time Bungie has expanded Marathon’s cosmetic selection. Previous updates added additional Runner Shell Styles for classes including Destroyer, Thief, Assassin and Recon, showing that Shell customisation remains an important part of the game’s seasonal progression.
Release Date and Unlock Method Remain Unknown
Bungie has only confirmed that the Oni-inspired Destroyer Shell Style is coming later this season. Its exact release date, final name, price, and unlock requirements remain unannounced.
