Riot has unveiled that they will be adding recommended rune pages and ability recommendations in preseason 2023.
As League of Legends season 12 is almost over, Riot Games has finally announced all the changes coming in the upcoming preseason 2023.
Usually, in the preseason, we get new system changes, quality of life improvements, jungle changes, a new champion, new items, etc. And this preseason is no exception.
Riot has finally shown off the preview of the preseason 2023. In this preseason, we will be getting the return of chemtech drake, massive jungle changes with the addition of jungle pets, communication changes, vision improvements, top lane changes, and most importantly, new runes and ability recommendation features.
Runes are a prevalent part of League of Legends. Runes are enchantments that can add new buffs to a pre-existing champion. Because of runes, no two champions can be the same.

Runes are divided into five paths: Precision, Domination, Sorcery, Resolve, and Inspiration. Each path focuses on different buffs.
Even though runes are a core part of League of Legends and add an extra layer of strategy, for a newer player, it becomes incredibly overwhelming. As a result, many new players quit the game when they see this rune system.
Different 3rd party applications already provide runes and ability recommendations. Some of the popular ones are Blitz.gg, Porofessor, U.gg etc. These third-party applications help newer and even experienced players by giving a recommended rune page and item loadouts for their specific champions. But many, especially newer players, don’t want to download third-party applications.
Because of this, Riot announced that they will add loadout recommendations in the preseason 2023.

Recommended Rune Pages and Summoner Spells
Players can change their runes during the pick and ban stage of the game. But now, during that time, we will see the optional recommended rune pages and summoner spells in champ select.
After selecting a champion, if the player clicks the edit rune button, they will see a recommended runes button. Opening this interface will display up to 3 rune and summoner spell setups that the player can select in-game.
Riot also stated that these recommendations will be updated once per patch and are informed by what setups are optimal and popular.
Recommended Abilities
Riot will also be adding recommended abilities systems for newer players as well. New players sometimes don’t know which ability to unlock or upgrade first. This recommended ability feature should help them pick the optimal abilities first.
Similar to recommended ability feature, it will also update once per match and inform the optimal ability setups.
