The latest LEGO Star Wars may not be a completely open-world game, but it does offer ample exploration opportunities to players in every area they visit on a planet. Among the 10 character classes in the game, the Scavenger is the only character class that can use a variety of scavenger tools that will assist you in exploration.

Not only that, but you’ll also find puzzles across various areas that will require you to use a Scavenger character. However, figuring out how to use the tools in their arsenal can be tricky due to the lack of proper guidelines in the game. That’s why we have put together this guide to help you learn how to unlock and use Scavenger tools in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
What are Scavenger Tools?
Scavenger Tools in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga are utility tools that can help you get across places as well as uncover secret areas. Every Scavenger character will come equipped with the three scavenger tools stated below:
- Net Launcher – allows players to launch climbable nets that attach themselves to specific structures. Players can climb the nets to get to a higher point in the area.
- Glider – allows players to glide across a great distance for a short period of time. Players can use the glider to get past large gaps between two platforms. Moreover, you can also use the glider to get down from a high point without taking fall damage.
- Breaker Blaster – this is a ranged projectile blaster that can break cracked LEGO walls to open secret areas. Moreover, it can also be used as a ranged weapon to hit multiple enemies once you upgrade the Better Breaker Blaster ability.
How to Unlock and Use Scavenger Tools?
Players have the opportunity of unlocking certain Scavenger characters early using cheat codes and by purchasing the Mandalorian Season 1 Character Collector DLC. However, you will still be required to complete a portion of the main story to be able to use their abilities. The easiest way to unlock Scavenger Tools is by playing the first 15 minutes of Episode 7: The Force Awakens.
Once you get to the “Low Flying Garbage” level, you’ll be playing as Rey, who is also a Scavenger character in the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. With that being said, you will need to unlock all three of her abilities so that it unlocks for all other Scavenger characters in the game as well. But not to worry, as you can easily obtain all three Scavenger tools during the ‘Scraps for Scraps’ mission. Below we have explained how to unlock and use each Scavenger tool.
How to Unlock Net Launcher?
This is the first Scavenger tool you’ll unlock in the game. Once you progress about 15 minutes into the episode, you will be tasked with collecting scraps. Once you have done that, you’ll find the blueprint for the Net Launcher on a highlighted terminal near the scraps.
How to use Net Launcher?
In order to use the Net Launcher, you will need to find walls, pillars, or hills with structures shaped like an X attached to them. The climbable nets will only attach to those structures. Once you equip the net launcher, simply press L2 to aim at the structure and shoot by pressing R2.
How to Unlock Glider?
Once you use your Net Launcher and climb over your first obstacle, keep making your way up the puzzle. Once you climb up the ladder on your left, you’ll find the terminal containing the Glider blueprint.
How to use Glider?
Once you get the glider, you can press X to glide over to the next platform. Moreover, you can also press X again to fall, but you’ll take substantial fall damage if you’re too high from ground level.
How to unlock Breaker Blaster?
After you have glided over to the next platform, simply push off the block of LEGOs and dropdown. You can then use Rey to build a trampoline which you can use to launch yourself up to the next platform in the puzzle. From there, keep advancing left and climb the final ladder to reach the terminal containing the blueprint for the Breaker Blaster.
How to use Breaker Blaster?
You can use the Breaker blaster on cracked LEGO walls which can be easily identified by the blue light emitting from them. Simply aim at the cracked wall or at enemies using L2 and shoot with R2.
How to switch between different Scavenger Tools?
Once you’ve unlocked all of them, you can toggle between the different Scavenger tools from the ability selection menu. To access it, press Circle on PlayStation, B on Xbox, A on Switch, or the E key on PC.
