Riot announced today that LEC 2020 spring split is suspended due to rising concern over Coronavirus until further notice.
According to LEC’s tweet, no member of the LEC staff or players has tested positive for Covid-19. But a LEC member may have been exposed to the virus and the person is currently under quarantine.
Riot said, “In light of the uncertainty during the rapidly changing Covid-19 pandemic situation and in an abundance of caution. We’ve decided to the side of player and staff safety and suspend the LEC spring season until further notice.”
Yesterday riot announced that today’s LEC matches will be held with no live audience and press. But now just before the LEC matches Riot has announced the update that the LEC is suspended until further notice.
The world health organization(WHO) declared the Covid-19 as a pandemic, as a result, many Esports events are now on hiatus or prepended. And now LEC 2020 spring split is the newest victim of the virus as it is spreading like wildfire across Europe.
