Smolder is getting a Mini-Rework in the upcoming patch.

The League of Legends Patch 14.23 is here, and from the looks of it, it’s going to be yet another massive patch. Compared to the last patch, this one feels considerably larger and will have many more changes. The patch will include several new buffs and nerfs to champions and items. Additionally, the patch will include a bunch of mini-reworks.

A total of three champions are getting a mini-rework in Patch 14.23. These champions are Aurora, Smolder, and Rell. In this article, we will mainly focus on the Smolder mini-rework.

Smolder, The Fiery Fledgling, is one of the newest champions in League of Legends. He was released earlier in the year in Patch 14.3. However, since his release the champion has been plagued with problems. Smloder was too strong at release, necessitating numerous nerfs to balance him. However, because of his hyper-scaling nature and safe laning phase, he was still quite overpowered in professional play. As a result, he received even more nerfs, leaving him relatively poor state.

Recently, Riot has determined that his wave clear and stack scaling mechanics were highly problematic, which has resulted in him being skewed toward professional play. Thus, Riot has decided to give Smolder a little overhaul in order to improve his solo-queue viability and lessen his professional play strength.
