League of Legends 2020 Worlds schedule is finally revealed at the Tencent Global Esports Summit, starting from September 25.
League of Legends Worlds Championship is one of the most anticipated tournaments of the year for Esports fans around the globe. But the ongoing pandemic led many fans to wonder whether there will be any Worlds this year or not. Riot however kept assuring that the Worlds will indeed take place in China with a “bubble system” to ensure everyone’s safety.
And today, at the Tencent Global Esports Summit, Tencent has finally revealed the schedule of the upcoming League of Legends 2020 Worlds Championship.
2020 Worlds Championship Schedule
- Play-in stage: September 25 – 30
- Group stage Round 1: October 3 – 6
- Group stage Round 2: October 8 – 11
- Quarterfinals: October 15 – 18
- Semifinals: October 24 and 25
- Finals: October 31
League of Legends 2020 Worlds Championship will kick of September 25, 2020, with the Play-in stage games. The group stage will take place in two rounds, the first round will start from October 3 where the second round starts October 8.
The Quarterfinals and Semifinals start October 15 and October 24 respectively. And the World Championship will end with the final between two titans on October 31.
Where is the 2020 World Championship?
2020 Worlds Championship was planned to take place across six cities in China and the grand final was scheduled to take place in Shanghai. But due to the ongoing pandemic, the entire tournament is only going to be played in Shanghai.
And on October 31, the final is going to take place in the Pudong Soccer Stadium.
Qualified Teams
Both China and Europe showed excellent performance in the recent international tournaments thus they will have four teams qualify for this year’s Worlds. North America and Korea however will have three teams respectively. And both Vietnam and PCS will have two teams while other wildcard regions will have one team in Worlds.
