Kayle is getting a huge update on the PBE but players are arguing whether it is a good thing or a bad thing.

After her rework on patch 9.5, Kayle had an amazing run for most of the season 9. But due to her massive popularity and her overwhelming strength after level 16, Riot decided to give her some major changes in patch 9.17 and later some big nerfs on patch 9.22.

And after that nerf on patch 9.22 which is also the last change that she received till now, her pick rate dropped significantly. She went from having a 9.37% pick rate with a 53.18% win rate to just 2.25% pick rate champion in the current patch 10.16. As a result, Riot has pushed a massive update for kayle on the PBE.

Kayle PBE Changes

Radiant Blast (Q): [Removed] No longer refunds mana on champion hit.

Celestial Blessing (W): mana cost increased from 70/80/90/100/110 to 90/100/110/120/130

Starfire Spellblade (E):

  • cooldown changed from 8 to 8/7.5/7/6.5/6
  • mana cost lowered from 50/55/60/65/70 to No Cost
  • auto attack projectile speed increased from 2000 to 5000

In this new update, Riot has removed Kayle’s E mana cost and lowered its cooldown at max level. However, they have increased the mana cost of her W and removed the mana refund of her Q.

And these changes left players to wonder if it is a buff or nerf to her kit. Some players are saying that it is a great change as no mana for her E means she can harass more in the laning phase and be somewhat more relevant early game. But a lot of players are arguing that this is an overall nerf for Kayle especially in the late game.

A lot of players however are also discussing whether they should max her Q or her E first. Some players are stating that they will max her Q regardless as they think maxing her E early on is not that effective as it has no mana.

These new changes are on the PBE for testing purposes and based on feedbacks it may or may not go into the live servers on patch 10.18.
