Riot just provided some information on the upcoming Preseason’s Item changes.

The Preseason is one of the most thrilling times of the year for every League of Legends player. It is the time of year when Riot introduces a bunch of gameplay changes and adds new content to the game. During Preseason, players are also able to test out these new and exciting changes before the start of the season.

Having said that, the Preseason usually begins in the middle of November and lasts until mid-January, when the season begins. However, starting with Season 14, Riot is making significant changes to how Preseason works. According to Riot, there will no longer be a conventional preseason. Instead, the preseason adjustments will be introduced first on the PBE server and then directly sent to the live servers on January 9.

Although we will no longer have a traditional preseason period, it doesn’t mean we won’t have the exciting changes that come with Preseason. So, with just a few months until the preseason update, Riot has provided some information regarding the upcoming item changes for Preseason 2024.

Preseason 2024 Item Changes

One of the biggest changes coming to Preseason 2024 is the removal of Mythic Items. Along with it, the Mythic item restrictions will be removed as well. In addition, some of the Mythic items will be removed, and the others will be made into regular items.

Riot will also be looking at the Critical Damage items. According to Riot, Crit is in an odd spot right now, so they are looking for ways to improve how Crit items feel in the Preseason.

Lastly, Mages are finally getting some love in the Preseason. Mages have been neglected for the last couple of seasons. Their items feel underwhelming, and their build path feels very linear. So, Riot will be adding new items for Mages to diversify their build paths.
