Minecraft, unlike most other games, has no set goal and can be played in whichever manner you like. There are almost limitless things to do, numerous things to find and discover, and a million ways to play this sandbox game.
Minecraft even gives you the choice between two modes. In Survival Mode, you’re tasked with surviving and thriving in the world of Minecraft, and in Creative Mode, you can build whatever your heart desires.
Treasures maps are an item in Minecraft that marks the location of a nearby treasure. However, because of the vastness of the world of Minecraft, finding the exact spot can be a little daunting if you don’t know how to use a treasure map. So if you’re on that boat then don’t worry, we got you covered.
Everything You Need to Know About Treasure Maps in Minecraft
Features of The Treasure Map
If an area is unexplored, then the map will be uncolored and mostly appear tan. However, you can get a rough idea about the terrain based on the map features. A water body will be marked with horizontal orange stripes whereas dry land is marked with a flat tan color.
Direction and the Player Dot
Thankfully, the top of the treasure map is the north, left is west, right is east and down is south. So all you need to do is align yourself to the north of your Minecraft world and you’ll get a rough idea of which direction you should head towards.
The second thing to be aware of is the player dot. The white circle you will see on any of the sides represents your current location. One clue as to whether you’re headed in the right direction is the size of the dot. As the size reflects how far away you are from the borders of the map.
If you notice that your dot is getting larger in size when you move, that’s an indication that you’re moving towards the marked location. When the size of the dot stops getting bigger, it means that you’re less than 1027 blocks from the edge of the map.
How to Find The Treasure
Once you’re in the vicinity of the map, notice that the area around your dot will start to color in. This just means that you’re exploring a previously unexplored place.
From then on, position your dot, which now looks more like a directional arrow, right on the X spot on the map. Make sure to align the top of the arrow with the center of the X. Then all you need to do is to dig straight down and you should be able to find the treasure in no time!
