Everything you need to know to gather Rough Ruby in LEGO Fortnite
LEGO Fortnite is a survival game where you have to rely on your scavenging skills to gather a variety of resources. These resources include food and water to maintain your stamina and hunger levels, as well as crafting materials.
As crafting is a large focus of LEGO Fortnite, you’ll want to gather as many resources as possible to progress and survive. You can acquire resources through hunting mobs and animals, farming and harvesting, and mining and cutting, which are similar to the Battle Royale and Save the World game modes.

Furthermore, some resources are rarer than others and require a more focused approach to acquire efficiently and effectively.
Rough Ruby is one such rare resource. It can be processed into Cut Ruby, which can, in turn, be used to create useful charms that boost your stats.
This guide is all about Rough Ruby, where to find it, how to gather it, and how to convert it into Cut Ruby.
Rough Ruby Spawn Location
Rough Ruby can be found inside the lava caves of the Dry Valley/Desert biome. You can find Rough Ruby by looking for dark red formations. Furthermore, you can find them on the walls and sometimes the ceilings of the cave.
However, before you venture into the lava caves, you’ll need to take some preparations to ensure your safety and survival.
High Temperatures
Lava Caves have very high temperatures and can kill if you don’t properly maintain your character’s body temperature. You can beat the heat of the lava caves through two ways.
First, you can craft the Cool-Headed Charm. You’ll need the following resources (depending on the rarity of the charm):
- Uncommon:
- 3x Silk Thread.
- 1x Marble.
- 3x Sand Shell.
- Rare:
- 3 Heavy Wool Thread.
- 5 Frost Shell.
- 1 Sand Brute Scale.
- 3 Malachite Slabs.
Furthermore, you’ll need to upgrade your crafting bench before you can craft these charms. (Uncommon for the uncommon variant and vice versa).
You can also consume Snowberries, which can be found in the Frostlands Biome. Consuming Snowberries increases your heat resistance.
Also, you can make a Snowberry Shake using a Juicer, and a Fruit Pie using an oven. Making these requires the following ingredients:
- Snowberry Shake:
- 2x Snowberries
- 1x Milk
- Fruit Pie:
- 1x Flour
- 1x Raspberry
- 3x Snow Berry
- 3x Slap Berry
Pickaxe
To mine Rough Ruby, you’ll need a Rare Pickaxe. To craft one, you’ll need a Rare Crafting Bench and the following materials:
- 3x Flexwood Rods
- 3x Sand Claws
Crafting Cut Ruby
To put your Rough Rubies to use you’ll need to convert them into Cut Rubies. This requires a Gem Cutter. To build a Gem Cutter, you’ll need the following materials:
- 20x Marble Slabs
- 5x Rough Amber
- 5x Sand Claw
- 5x Sand Shell
After you’ve built a Gem Cutter, you can simply interact with it and deposit your Rough Rubies for processing.
