Quickly level up in Counter-Strike 2 to earn your weekly drops and the yearly service medal.
Counter-Strike 2 is Valve’s free update to the decade-old CS:GO. While the game remains competitively focused, there is still a sizeable casual player base in the community. For them, the in-game level-up system is a grind of its own. Rewards like the Weekly Drops and yearly Service Medals Tiers are locked behind the experience levels in the game.
Although the Level system is separate from your skill rating, “Private Rank 2” is required before you are allowed to play Competitive Matchmaking or Premier mode. So you will need a quick way to level up in the game. We go through how to level up fast in Counter-Strike 2 in this article.

Levels in Counter-Strike 2
There are a total of 40 levels you can grind in Counter-Strike 2. They range from Recruit Rank 1 at the start and end at Global General Rank 40. Each Level requires 5,000 XP points that can be earned from playing on Valve’s official servers in any game mode. Once you reach Level 40, you can reset back to Level 1 and receive a Service Medal. Leaving a game mid-way will not earn any experience points.
How to Level Up Fast in Counter-Strike 2
Outside of playing in the Competitive and Premier Gamemode, the fastest way to earn XP currently is to play Casual mode. Experience earned varies between each Gamemode. Casual has the highest XP multipliers, which will allow you to level up quickly. There are other factors, like the weekly XP bonus and the New Player Boost, that will quickly set you up until you hit level 3.
Experience Multipliers
Each Gamemode in CS2 has its own XP multiplier. Knowing which mode will net you the most experience is a surefire way to rank up fast.

Weekly Experience Bonus
Every week, you will have a pool of bonus XP that is added when you finish a game. You will receive this bonus XP until your pool of 5,000 XP is depleted. The bonus is added in two different ways:
- The first 3,500 XP is awarded as 3x the bonus of the XP earned in a game(You will receive a 300XP bonus if you earned 100XP after a game ends).
- The rest of the 1,500 XP is given as a 1x bonus.
The pool of 5,000 XP resets every week.
Reduced Experience Penalty
The game has a mechanic that applies an XP penalty if the player earns a lot of experience points in a single week. This reduces the experience earned by a significant amount. This also resets each week. Exceeding an experience earned value of around 11,167 XP will reduce your multiplier down to 0.175* Gained XP.
The Counter-Strike 2 Weekly reset happens every Wednesday. So, you can plan your way around the XP bonuses and penalties and grind for that service medal!
