At the core, the game is an RPG. Thus it has a level of gears and stat customization to it. There are a lot of gears in this game. These gears are also varied in quality, denoted by the color of the gears. And you can use the Loom to upgrade them. So here is how you can use the Loom in Hogwarts Legacy.

Unlocking the Loom to Upgrade Gears
Loom is one of the items you get for your room of requirement. It is a necessary item for the room. So, progressing the story will eventually unlock it. But if you want to know when this will get unlocked, then it will be unlocked after you have done the quest with Deek, where you capture magical beasts in the wild.
After unlocking it, use the conjuring spell to manifest the Loom into your room of requirement. Then interact with it to upgrade any gear. Each gear can be upgraded three times using the Loom. Each time, you will need different materials from the beasts you have collected.
How to Upgrade Gears With the Loom
Using the Loom is very easy and straightforward. After interacting with the Loom, it will take you to a selection menu where you can select the gear you want to upgrade. Press on the gear you want to upgrade, and it will show you what materials you need.
If you don’t have the materials, gather them and come back here. But if you have the material, then press and hold the upgrade button to upgrade your gears in the Loom.
