Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s multiplayer and Zombies is going free for a limited time. Here’s what players can expect from the free access time.
Activision occasionally offers free access trials to lure new players into trying the latest Call of Duty, and it seems like they are continuing it with their latest release Modern Warfare 3, developed by Sledgehammer Games.
Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer and Zombies game mode will be free for a limited time this weekend. This new Free Access mode features all remastered & new maps, the new Zombies game mode, and a playlist of the game’s most popular modes.

Modern Warfare 3 Free Access Weekend Content
Modern Warfare 3 free access weekend content includes full access to multiplayer mode, including the new Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. Here’s an overview of all contents available for free:
- Maps: Highrise, Rust, Shipment, Meat, Terminal, Afghan
- Game Modes: TDM, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Domination, War, Ground War
- Modern Warfare 3 Zombies
How to Download
Head to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 tab on the Battle.net client or Steam, and you will see an option to “PLAY FREE.” This will initiate the download process and allow you to access the free trial content.
As for the consoles, you must first navigate to the store on their respective console – PlayStation or Xbox – and then search for “Modern Warfare 3 Free Access.” Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 should have a free trial accessible for download. Once downloaded, the game will be ready for playing.
Release Times
New players will have plenty of time to familiarize themselves with Modern Warfare 3’s Multiplayer during the five days of free access, which begins on Thursday, December 14 at 10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, and 6 PM GMT and ends on Monday, December 18 at 10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, and 6 PM GMT.
You can access all content as part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and if you choose to purchase the complete game, the unlocks will carry over. The free access weekend will be a great time for Warzone 2.0 players to grind their weapons in the small maps and unlock all attachments in the process.
