Kinich is coming in the second phase of Genshin Impact 5.0. Is he worth the primogems? Let’s find out after reviewing the latest Kinich leaks!
Genshin Impact enters the new region with the launch of version 5.0 As we already started our journey through Natlan, Mualani, and Kinich the first two 5 stars we have introduced in this region.
While Mualani’s banner is still ongoing, you might be wondering whether you should pull on Kinich or not. This is a viable question as there are a lot more characters to come in the upcoming versions and unless you want to break the bank for primogems, you need to start saving.
So, is Kinich worth pulling for? Yes, he is! From all the Kinich leaks from Genshin Impact 5.0 beta, it is safe to say that he’s an amazing unit. But he mightn’t be everyone’s cup of tea. That’s what I’m going to discuss today!
Kit Explained Based on Kinich Leaks
To understand the value of Kinich let’s look into his kit and what he will bring to your team. Keep in mind that all of these Kinich leaks can be subjected to change depending on Hoyoverse‘s mood. So, take it with a grain of salt.
Kinich will be a Dendro Claymore unit available from September 17th. He will be a main DPS unit who will require as much field time as possible.
But unlike other selfish DPS like Alhaitham or Xiao, Kinich’s gameplay will revolve around the nightsoul mechanics introduced in Natlan.
Normal Attack: Nightsun Style
Kinich delivers three quick strikes in a row. After using his Elemental Skill to perform a mid-air swing, he can follow up with a normal attack before landing. If the attack button is held, he uses stamina to spin and hurl his claymore forward. Like other plunging attacks, Kinich slams into the ground, creating an AOE effect that damages enemies in his descent path and upon impact.
Elemental Skill: Canopy Hunter Riding High
Kinich can either move swiftly or attack using his big-game hunting skills. When near an opponent or object, he attaches a grappling hook, activating Nightsoul’s Blessing (without Nightsoul points). If no target is nearby, he shoots the hook forward, swings, and reduces the skill’s cooldown by 60%. Holding the skill lets him aim the grappling hook. A buffing zone called a blind spot is created consequentially to increase the damage of Kinich.
Nightsoul’s Blessing lasts 10 seconds, generating two points per second.
Attacks:
- Normal Attack: Kinich fires Loop Shots, dealing Dendro damage.
- Scalespiker Cannon: Consumes Nightsoul points for a high-damage shot, allowing grapple.
- Blind Spot: Generates extra Nightsoul points when Kinich moves into it after grappling or shooting with his elemental skill.
Elemental Burst: Hail to the Almighty Dragonlord
Kinich harnesses the power of the Almighty Dragonlord, K’uhul Ajaw (in a limited, temporary, and conditional form), dealing Nightsoul-infused AOE Dendro damage. Ajaw’s Dragon Breath also releases periodically, causing additional AOE Dendro damage. If Kinich activates this while under Nightsoul’s Blessing, the Blessing’s duration is extended by 1.7 seconds.
Night Realm’s Gift Repaid in Full | When Kinich is in mid-air after using Canopy Hunter: Riding High, he can spend 10 Phlogiston points to perform another swing. In Natlan, where Phlogiston mechanics are active, Kinich can use Nightsoul Transmission: Kinich. Depending on the situation, he may grapple towards a Coilgrass Sigil, perform a mid-air attack, or swing forward. This ability can trigger every 10 seconds. When interacting with certain objects, Canopy Hunter: Riding High turns into Yumkasaur Mimesis, without triggering cooldowns. |
The Price of Desolation | While in Nightsoul’s Blessing, opponents hit by Kinich’s Elemental Skill enter the Desolation state. If they are affected by Burning or Burgeon reactions, they restore 7 Nightsoul points every 0.8 seconds. The Desolation state lasts as long as Kinich’s Nightsoul Blessing is active. |
Flame Spirit Pact | After a nearby ally triggers a Nightsoul Burst, Kinich gains a Hunter’s Experience stack for 15 seconds (up to 2 stacks). When Kinich uses Scalespiker Cannon, these stacks are consumed, boosting the Cannon shot’s damage by 320% of his attack per stack. |
Exploration Bonus: Swift Envoy | In Natlan’s Phlogiston mechanic zones, interacting with harvestable items boosts party movement speed by 15% for 10 seconds. Nearby Natlan resources also appear on the mini-map. |
Constellations
From his constellations, it seems an early stopping point is C2 or C3 as you will get a massive increase in damage!
Parrot’s Beak (C1) | After Kinich lands from his Elemental Skill’s mid-air swing, his movement speed increases by 30% for 6 seconds. Scalespiker Cannon’s Crit Damage is also boosted by 100%. |
Tiger Beetle’s Palm (C2) | Hitting an opponent with Kinich’s Elemental Skill reduces their Dendro Resistance by 30% for 6 seconds. The first Scalespiker Cannon in Nightsoul’s Blessing has increased AOE and 100% more damage. |
Protosuchian’s Claw (C3) | Increases Kinich’s Elemental Skill level by 3 (max level 15). |
Hummingbird’s Feather (C4) | In Nightsoul’s Blessing, using Loop Shots or Scalespiker Cannon restores 5 Energy (once every 2.8 seconds). Hail to the Almighty Dragonlord deals 70% more damage. |
Howler Monkey’s Tail (C5) | Increases Kinich’s Elemental Burst level by 3 (max level 15). |
Auspicious Beast’s Shape (C6) | After Scalespiker Cannon hits, it bounces to another target, dealing 700% of Kinich’s attack as Dendro damage. Buffs from Flame Spirit Pact or Tiger Beetle’s Palm apply to the bounce attack. |

Possible Teams for Kinich
Now with the overview of his kit, it is safe to say that Kinich’s kit revolves heavily around burgeon reactions making him the perfect candidate to pair up with Emilie who was released in version 4.8.
The current best team lineup for Kinich would be:
- Kinich
- Emilie
- Bennet
- Xianling/Kazuha
I have mentioned current here because there aren’t enough Natllan characters who synergize with Kinich yet. But when these characters are released, we will be able to see him in his full potential. You can find out more about potential character banners from our 5.0 roadmap article!
The best team for Kinich should be:
- Kinich
- Emilie
- Xilolen
- Mavuika (C2)
So, Should You Pull on Kinich?
Based on all the Kinich leaks I have come across. I am extremely confident that he will be one of the strongest DPS in the game. But he requires a heavy investment to become the best! Don’t get me wrong I am 100% pulling on him but if you don’t have Emille and not looking forward to getting Mavuika then it can be a skip for you. Check out his burgeon gameplay:
On the other hand, if Meta and future possibility is concerned he is future-proof as I personally think Burgeon will receive more buffs and he will be an outstanding DPS. And let’s not forget he will be crucial for traveling across Natlan:
That’s all for Kinich leaks, I hope this discussion helps you to decide whether you want to get this 5 star or not!
