The exciting five-map marathon started on Coastline, where FaZe Clan dominated NiP, getting an early lead of 5-1 on the attack. FaZe quickly ended that match with a 7-3 scoreline; however, Ninjas in Pyjamas swiftly bounced back on Villa, taking the match to overtime. Apart from the legendary G2-Team Empire match, it is the 2nd time unlimited overtime has had to be used in a major Siege tournament. Eventually, NiP got the two-round lead on overtime and won the map 11-9.
NiP carried this momentum into Chalet, where they once again won the map 7-4, making the score 2-1. But, FaZe wasn’t letting go of their dreams of winning an International Siege event that easily, as they steamrolled NiP 7-3 on Bank, with another 5-1 lead in the first half.
The story was the same on the final map of Kafe Dostoyevsky, with FaZe keeping their composure and knocking down NiP with a swift 7-3 victory. Thus, FaZe won the BO5 series 3-2 and lifted their first-ever International Rainbow Six Siege trophy.
The longtime duo Gabriel “cameram4n” Hespanhol and Leonardo “Astro” Buzzachera have been working hard to become the champions, and their efforts have finally earned them the Six Sweden Major title.
However, FaZe Clan aren’t done yet. “This means the world for us, but we know that we have a lot more to achieve,” cameram4n said after the victory. He says that he encouraged his team by telling them, among other things, that “we are not a one-tournament team.”
Ubisoft confirmed the Six Invitational 2022 will be held in Montreal, and FaZe would definitely want to lift the Invitational Hammer next.
