The Crossbow has been nerfed to the ground with the Season 5 update, and fans are not happy.
Call of Duty: Warzone’s current meta rewards players using SMGs and ARs. On the other hand, players who use Sniper and Marksman Rifles are facing problems as they are severely underpowered currently. All Sniper and Marksman rifles were nerfed with the season 3 Classified Arms update.
The sniper rifle meta has been nipped in the bud, making long-range gunfights last longer than usual. However, the Crossbow still had one-shot potential in the past two seasons. Unfortunately, it did not last long as the Crossbow has been nerfed, with the Season 5 update angering most of the community.

Crossbow’s Unnecessary Nerf
In a Reddit post, u/curtisjoesakic uploaded his gameplay clip where he can be seen using a crossbow. However, as he hits his enemies, the Crossbow can only crack their shields, whereas, just a few weeks ago, it could down enemies from almost any range.
A user was quick to comment that anything players enjoy using that is not a Vanguard weapon will get nerfed by the devs. This has been a trend since the release of BOCW. Devs tend to nerf the guns from past games to keep the current guns on top.
Another user stated that streamers are the main cause of these nerfs; as they boost or shun a weapon, it gets a nerf or buff hammer in the next update.
Another user also recommended that keeping a weapon out of the limelight will keep the weapon safe from nerfs or any adjustments.
The majority of the community is unhappy with the decision Raven Software has been taking in the past few months. They are putting down MW and BOCW weapons to create a one-way meta, where unorthodox weapons get players punished.
Raven Software should consider the community’s opinion and not touch weapons getting recognition. It will only take the fun out of the already dying game.
